In multiple games and virtual world there is a concept of mentors. While the exact format varies, basically it is older players helping newer players. The end result is a better experience for newer players and they are more apt to stick around longer (which means more $$ for the company).
I have noticed that when wandering around low level areas it is not uncommon to get party requests from new players. While I could just drop around $30 for a commander tag, hang around where they rez, and hope they ask what it is I was wondering if there could be a more organized solution.
Anet could incorporate this with very little investment and huge rewards. For example, maybe saying how to get in-world help on the support page (or a link from it). It has been my experience that mentors will do it for the satisfaction of helping, if that turns out not to be the case maybe toss in some carrot that does not cost anet anything (like priority in the pvp queue or something). The potential rewards to anet would far outstrip minor costs like adding a link on the support page.
