monthy reward: why am i forced to wvwvw?
Just defend a keep/tower with a siege weapon
while i enjoy wvwvw i understand where you’re coming from.
Long story short: Because it’s not intended to be a pure PVE Achievement.
On a sidenote, you only need to defeat 50 enemies, which is really easy when you are defending a Tower or Keep. Siege Weapon or not.
sPvP is not part of the PvE world, WvW is. Also, the monthly achievement now includes dungeon runs.
I understand the pain but its easy enough todo if you goto a keep fight normally very quickly. Sometimes this is harder to do based on how you are built, skills, etc you use. I find conditions much harder to apply at keep fights from the top of walls so I prefer rawr damage to get this done on my necro. It would be great is spec grasp worked so I could pull a player from a wall but that works maybe 1/10 times because my targets side steps even slightly it misses. Now fun thing you can do is apply marks to the side of keep walls along with wells if you have the trait to place them from a distance. Ele’s are great for attacking foes on top of walls and taking down siege weapons as well.

Same complain over and over. Its an Achievement!!! in a game called Guild Wars in which the ongoing battle between servers plays a Big Role, including providing buffs that influence your PvE.. you dont want a monthly achievement to include it?
I understand if people complained about salvaging but about WvW? thats GW2’s main theme. You have 1 month to go in there 2 hrs and get your contribution sionce the rest of the month you are leeching from the people that do.
In a month, those bonuses cut your leveling, crafting, grinding for a lot more than the time it needs for you to get it done… so stop the QQ. You dont need the monthly reward you know. You want the rewards from doing an ACHIEVEMENT? then go put some effort.
It’s kills, not badges, so it really won’t take long at all. If you can manage the queue, it’s good to go right when they reset on Friday.
Cause nobody else would be there otherwise. The kills take forever, you can easily get ganked, and it kills your performance. They need to encourage people to play though so it’ sa monthly.

i got a guild with more than just one ppl ( 300+)
but i see no reason why iam forced to to wvwvw.
all hardcore wvwvwv-guild will be pissed,
if players like me just farm the archivment.

For November why am I forced to run a dungeon? It’s what they decided. Just like doing wvwvw
It’s not a big deal, you aren’t forced to do anything. I hate WvW because I get 10FPS there but you know what? Once I realized ANet is going to do nothing to optimize the game and I need to buy next gen PC parts I slug through it without whining anymore.
Now why do I need to do dungeons? Finding groups for that kitten is a pain in the kitten further more people only wants to run freaking CoF which I hate with passions thanks to this same reason. That and the kitten dungeon armor feels like WoW.
It takes ~4 hours over the course of a month to get 50 kills. You don’t see me complaining about being forced to do their imbalanced crappy dungeons.
i see where you’re coming from as well. i think it’s kind of a neat aspect of the monthly. it… encourages, if you will, players to experience all parts of the game, that is part of the PvE world at least, we’re not forced to PvP right now. WvW mind you is very different i feel. i don’t enjoy PvP all that much but i love WvW.
if anyone’s on SoR here, who don’t love dungeons or WvW and want to for the achievments, lemme know. disclaimer: i am by no means an expert at any dungeon yet, only run a few handful of times, nor am i amazing at WvW but i love doing both. makes everything easier with a friend or party.

No one should be forcing you to do anything.
Just run with the zerg. Aoe everything you see. I got my monthly done in 20 mins. I swear on that.
If you follow around a zerg, WvW becomes a giant PvE arena with spontaneous events that you have a fair chance of losing.
If you sit inside a keep and hurl death down on the people below, WvW becomes a PvE minigame that you can’t lose.
Don’t sweat the PvP aspect. nobody can see your name and nobody’s going to make fun of you for getting killed.
I personally, don’t like it either: first of all, I hate the pvp in this game (I think it’s flat out boring especially since auto-targeting does pretty much everything for you…); secondly it hinders the goals of hard core WvWers by introducing elements that are not there to really help, but to get their achievement done and be on their way to something they enjoy again.
Hope to see monthly achievements will be random in the future!

the same argument can be said for a person that only does WvW.
why are they forced to do dungeons for the monthly achievement? it’s entirely possible to go from 2-80 without stepping out of WvW.
I don’t understand. Please clarify something for me: How are you going to “just farm the achievement”? I understand going in solely for getting the achievement done. But, it’s player kills. Killing players stops said players from doing something to help their side, thus killing them helps your side. You’d only be a jerk (and take way more time) if you just spent your WvW time running around looking for solo fights or say camping a puzzle. Just go with the masses and help get things done; you’ll be done in no time. You’re not going in and filling a spot to farm mobs (which some people actually do do).
More like why are we being forced to do dungeons? wvw is just a hassle because anet refuses to address how uneven the servers are (7 day cooldown on free transfers does not alleviate that at all)

It was only 50 the last two months. I’ll have to see once I opt to WvW later.
Then I’ll tell you why am I forced to do dungeon runs now. I’d rather WvW than do dungeons. But whatever the achievement is a choice that you can not do and the rewards are decent. I’m also sour that I now have to do dungeons which I don’t find fun at the current state it is. (trash having a lot of hp and little rewards)

I was thinking about that too. But then, you get 1 a day .
So, if you want to use those jugs for the expensive karma armour, you’ll need less than 60 days (42K per armour piece, 4.5K per jug) for a full set. That’s 2 months (let’s just take that 60 as that is easy to use, in reality you’ll need less as you get more than 4.2K per jug and you’ll get karma from the events as well). Now, if you also do the monthly, you’ll have to do the daily’s for 50 days. Is it worth doing those WvW kills to get that armour 10 days earlier?
For me, no. I am now mapping WvW, so I did get my 50 kills in last month. But I wouldn’t have let a tear if I hadn’t been able to do that…

Something along those lines would be pretty good in my opinion. Like how the Hearts are designed multiple ways to achieve an overall goal.

Like in this case I have no problem doing WWW, but I’m not very thrilled about the dungeon part of the achievement because I’m mostly a solo player and now I have to try to find a pug group for that.
The WvW monthly is easy to obtain.
The dungeon monthly this month however is a big kick in the kittens for any WvW player… Why do we have to run dungeons? It’s the most complete opposite of what many PvP/WvW players enjoy doing, and I for one, rather eat my own fingers than to do a terribly boring ‘dungeon’. Basically, no monthly for a lot of players this month, thanks!
Monthly/daily achievements should be completable in ANY aspect of the game like previously, not be EXCLUSIVE to one aspect of the game.
If the monthly was 1 dungeon run, I guess I’d be ok with it, as that’s roughly the same in time-spend as 50 WvW kills. But it has 4 tiers, so I’m guessing it is a lot more than one run.
I don’t care a whole lot in the end, but it is just annoying.

And the fact that karma buffs work with the jugs. It’s about 70000+ karma.
Ughh, this is just sickening. WvW is a minor hassle, that sometimes borders on fun (sometimes). But dungeons? I’m just not interested, ANet. Stop trying to force them. Not everyone wants to LFG for ages, just to get into some tired cesspit of broken mechanics for their leet hardcore gamer badge.
They are the single least appealing aspect of your game, so why force them so much? Not only do they get their own line of armor and weapons skins (each), but they’re required for Legendary weapons, they’re required for festival weapon crafting, and now they’re required for the monthly?

the completion requirements are purely arbitrary. The answer to your question is simply: Because. If you want it, fulfill the requirements, if you do not want to pvp, then you don´t get the reward. What makes you think those are “pve” rewards? They are what anet makes them and that clearly includes both playstyles.

Well you are not forced to even play the game. Things is that when you make content such as achievements which gives you karma needed by both PVE and PVP players, you shouldn’t be forced into doing something you have no interest in.
GW2 is about freedom with in the game and when something as important as karma is involved the excuse ‘you are not forced to do anything’ doesn’t fly.
Karma is essential for PVE players as much as it is for PVP players..Especially for folks like me who have no interest in dungeons what so ever and enjoy open world DE content.

Mmm. After more than three weeks with the monthly achievement bugged it was fixed with a Candy Corn eating “achievement”. I was asking myself: Why should my character eat the unhealthy Candy Corn to accomplish the monthly achievement? And I have not make my character to pass through it. Sugar may be a leading cause to bad teeth/bones and diabetes, it is not suitable for diabetics and it should not be included as an achievement for everyone as it is the monthly achievement, as not a few people like to bring to real life what their characters do in game.

Its part of The game, if u dont like it dont do it, no one Forces u to do wvw Its your choice to do or dont do your monthly, so stop complaining and if u choose to do your monthly then accept The things u need to do.

I think I do distinguish between a computer game and reality. Why do you think I do not?^^ I do not mind killing characters, I know that I am not killing players, that killing in a game is a way of relationship with others. And I do not take my character’s death as a personal thing -it can revive later on any way. But, my characters do not eat sugary things. Also, they do not drink alcoholic drinks, and they do not eat meat. And they do not use blood as a component to craft items. These are some rol playing decisions that I have taken. So when I say that eating Candy Corn is unhealthy and my characters do not eat it, it is in a rol playing sense that I am expressing it.

Those of us with i7 endure the same button smashing trying to hit some invisible enemies … just with 40+ fps

I actually see it as an incentive. There are quite some players that do not partake in this and that activity because they never try, are afraid they cannot do it and similar reasons. Losing out on a monthly completion isn´t a big issue compared to the possibility of people realizing they actually like something they were wary of before.
