ok try to have some patience here with me for i dont play much as thief , but need him as an example, u guys know the thief can go stealth right? when he does that his primary weapon skills change to “stealth version” right? what if every other class in the game could do that? their primary skills change to an stealth version when going stealth?
now, no, im not saying every other class should be added their own stealth skill , im saying , that a thief could actually improve or enhance the functionality of other classes in their own unique way if the other class had stealth version of their primary (and secondary! why not?), and actually make fights more interesting and even encourage players to coordinate moves and make some actual planning beyond just “hey let stack here!!!” or “hey use shadow refuge so we can run all the way to Vallog!!!”

I opened this propossal using the thief stealth skills as an example, but it doesn have to end there, I play a war as my main, and I think it could be interesting if I could use the warhorn’s skills to actually improve allies contribution to a fight, right now the only reason to use warhorn is for the quick breathing trait and thats it, what if call to arms instead of granting vigor to allies and weakening to enemies (woohooo… >~>), granted instead quickness to my allies? what if charge mad eit so that my allies can perform a knockdown move on a enemy with their next attack?

and the elementalist, what if his conjure magic actually made it so targeted allies can inflict a condition with their attacks like "for 10 sec all your attacks deal burn, or freeze, or electricity and earth dmg or whatever? hhmm? it would actually make team work more meaningful over your classic “stack here!!” move just saying.

again I do not want the gameplay to devolve into what GW1 was, going solo was pretty much unthinkable unless you were a monk If I remember correctly, but I want team work to have a science to it, I hate it when a guardians shows up and just overdoses everyone with might, I hate it when im at a critical point in a jumping puzzle and somebody nearby just gives me swiftness.

I simply wish having a member of any class in a team brought something to the table no other class could match, other than boon’s overdose, just imagine having those weapons u never use in your inventory could actually have a purpose when combined with the skills of other classes, just saying.

PS

a little off topic but I also think it needs to be out there, the war should have a third weapons set, why? because he is a warrior kitten it!! a master of arms!!

PPS

sry about the textwall, it looked like three paragraph when I imagined it in my head.

PPPS

I didnt type “kitten” …!?

Could be interesting, sure. But, your warhorn5 does have a purpose, it’s a blast finisher, which in a fire field set up by your teammate can give 3 stacks of might… that’s the synergy they’re nerfing in the next update… so yeah…

Neat idea, but sounds like a balancing nightmare.

Pretty much the first thought I had. Followed by how annoying it would be to have my skills keep changing on me during combat. Imagine in large scale fights how this mechanic would create chaos? Then where’s the priority coming from?

-yes it would be a nightmare to balance, and yes it would be chaotic, at first, eventually ppl get the hang of it just like with exploration dungeons and fractals.

No. Just no. If it’s going to be chaotic, there’s no “getting the hang of it.” Especially when the game itself likes to have kittenfits. Ever been at a teq where you get ready to stack might, drop your fire field, then blast it only to get “AREA WEAKNESS” showing up? Pretty sure I was the last person to drop a field, and it was definitely a fire field. Priorities for mechanics are kittened up beyond belief in gw2. This would just make it worse.

Well it’s always nice to have a quick laughter ones a while thank you for that <3

First of all the war 3rd weapon set would provide ALOT of extra utilities nukes and sustain totally unbalancing the warrior making him an indistructable war god.
For the rest of the post, party support needs to have very delicate amount of party support. for example call to the arms, 16 sec cd 13 sec vigor+6 sec weakness and a blast finisher is already pretty OP considering the fact that you’re giving this buff to 4 more allies. I agree to the fact that increasing team support can enlighten the game, however Anet clearly desires not to do so, since the release their main goal was to let 5year olds being able to play the game (lvling system etc) also they’re reducing the impact of might further decreasing the amount of teamwork in this game. don’t get your high hopes up m8, because this is not gonna happen XD

-yeah have to agree with your post, some good points, but is ok, I just felt this needed to be out there. but still, its a shame though, why would one dumb down an mmorpg for a young audience that might be more comfortable playing marvel vs capcon or Mortal Kombat? but is all good Im still addicted to GW2, so Im gonna be playing this game for a while, probably will take regular rest from it by switching to DA:inquisition.

I think GW2 has a lot of group play/strategies. Its just that its at the higher skill level, so you don’t see it much in day to day with pugs who play with the meta.

An example, the thief has more functionality than just stealth. A thief can provide a steady source of blast finishers that can support the party significantly.

Combo fields and finishers are at the higher level of skill play in GW2, its sad really since they are so easy to learn/master. And they really do add a new level to game play that you see used more in WvW than anywhere else.

To be honest, it sounds like you’re just bored with the current weapon skill set of all the classes and just want some new ones to play with. Here’s hoping that HoT will provide us with some new weapon skills.
