I am currently busy with my 5th stack of Tomes, that means I have over 1000 in my bank. I have 18 lev 80, all HoT elite specs, so have absolutely no use for tomes. I buy chest keys in the hope of getting something decent but I get blue dyes if any, and more tomes than black lion scraps. I am extremely irritated with you’re chest drops, as it seems you have to buy 30 to 50 chests to be able to put together enough scraps for 1 weapon, which these days sells for 50 gold. That means average of 115 gold for 5 keys x 6 to buy a SKIN, (Im sure you can see the futility of buying chests). I have posted before but it seems the less players that play the game, the more the drops and rewards get worse. I would like to point out you advertise in you’re BL trade posts, making it look like its easy to get the skins? Please, think about this seriously, my last 5 chests, 2 transmutation stones, (170 in my bank), 2 tomes, 1 SCRAP, and 1 miniature ticket.

Buying chest keys is a giant waste of money if you want an item from them. If you are ok with ANY item from them then they are an ok thing to buy.

Black Lion Chests are basically gambling, more akin to a lucky dip than roulette but still gambling. That means the odds are always going to be in the house’s favour.

The only reason to buy keys is if you enjoy gambling for in-game items. If you want something specific you’re always better off buying it directly. Whether that’s a weapon skin or a dye or an infinite bank access contract.

(Which is why it really sucks when they release something that’s only available in the chests and is account bound.)

BL Keys are like lotto tickets. The value is entirely in the frisson of excitement you get just before opening, the hope that this time will be different. It’s mean to have only a few valuable drops and otherwise junk.

It’s far, far, more economical to simply buy stuff you want rather than to invest RL cash or in-game gold on keys. (And you can almost certainly farm more gold in 15-20 minutes than you can get from a keyfarm.)

In short, keys aren’t meant to be financially valuable; they’re there to have fun taking a chance. Avoid them if you don’t enjoy that sort of thing.

Scraps have never been a cost efficient drop from chests, not in the entire time there has been scraps. BLC rarely pay off investment wise. They’re there for people who like to gamble. If you really want an item such as a new weapon skin or a node, you’re better off buying it directly.
