According to an infographic Anet released 1 year after launch, warrior was the most played class. That was 4 years ago, though, so take it with a grain of salt. That said, what class other people play shouldn’t really be important to what class you play.

No ones has the numbers but I’m going to guess that Warrior, Guardian and Mesmer are the most and Engineer and maybe Revenant are the least.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Just play whatever you feel like. All classes are fairly useful nowadays, with Warrior, Mesmer and Ranger probably taking the top 3 spots.

If you want least played and a challenge then I’ll suggest Engineer.

The most overplayed class in most games seems to be Warrior (or the game’s equivalent). It seems the majority of people just like running up and beating on things. I prefer playing a more nuanced role myself than mindless bashing.

i played 4 classes up to 80 before sticking with the necromancer (now i got them all to 80 , thats really quick to do once you have a few rolling) hell i even deleted my first necro and made him new for all the Personal Story Choices to be “right”

as for yourself i would recommend kicking of with a ranger, they are great in range and up close , get a amazing support build at 80 and are generally welcome in all game aspects (wvw, conquest, fractals, raids) from there you can always go for something else.

I also leveled every class and found Ranger, Reaper, Engineer, the easiest. Mesmer has been buffed and is like a tank now.

From what I’ve seen doing the HoT metas and doing fractals, Necromancer is the most commonly played class. Second is either ranger or thief. Least played is Engineer, specifically Scrapper.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

Play all of them if you can.

GW2 makes system so easy to max out in case you can try everything.

Going by the numbers no class is really overplayed, and if I had to guess I would say this is because GW2 for the most part does not have designated roles for specific classes. Also, I think all classes can be very interesting and fun to play. So, just pick a style (visual and playstyle) you like and play that class. And make sure you try out all the classes sooner or later.
