first of all i love this game. i wish it could last long than wow or gw1.but for now it surely experience some hard time due to lack of expansion. its ok for me i dont require that as much as other ppl do and i wont quit playing in foreseen future. cuz this is the only mmo without gear progression and i love the combat system.but my greatest fear is anet do u still make money from gw2?is it still profitable or at least cover the maitanance cost/staff salary?if it does i m ok with all the slow path u take toward expansion cuz i know as long as gw2 still profitable that expansion or whatever u call it will come eventually and bring players back.but if not(from all the datas i have been tracking these months its really hard to tell)…i doubt that there is gonna be a bright future for gw2.but either way i will stand for it and be the last guy quit.

Woa, that grammar was hard to read. I don’t know anything about anet but seeing there is the Gem system I’m sure they get a lot of income from players buying gems. Like I said, I don’t know for sure but I imagine anet is doing just fine.

If you don’t like gear treadmills then pray that there isn’t an expansion. The accountants put “must have” content into every MMO expansion to make sure it sells and that “must have” content normally involves more levels and/or more gear.

GW1 had no more levels or gear for expansions. (Just more classes and skills making the task of balancing ever more untenable.)

Don’t be afraid. They’ll live for a lo-o-ong time, with all this money I invest.

gem store is a good idea but it needs active player base but for now no one knows how many ppl still remain active.for instance there used to be 2 dueling room full of ppl at asia/aussie time but there was none when i logged in yesterday .it feels empty everywhere now but its not like this 6months ago when TTS can manage kill 2 3headed wurm while both maps hard capped but these days they cant even get 1 hard capped map.it surely a decline playerbase wise but i hope they r still financially healthy

I imagine many maps will be busting at the seams in about a week. Not to worry. =)

Anet isn’t delivering an expansion as others due with a new box, it seems they are sticking to introduction through living story.

So far, we did get one new map, with chances are another new one with the return of the LS in November. Let’s face it, we are going to chase that vision, so it will lead us further into magguma.

Perhaps in reaching this vision, we may discover a new profession (because it is time the game came out with one), and perhaps there could be a new race tied to it, and/or new weapons (scythe and two handed Axe plz?).

There are people who both agree and disagree with me on this, which is fine. I’m just saying what I feel needs to come eventually, and makes sense being introduced in LS.
If they just go with box, then that’s fine too.

I think they’re probably making good money from players buying gems to customize their characters. That seems to be a core attraction to the game, I know it is to me. The new wardrobe system is very well done and entices players to buy transmutation charges. I’ve spent more on gems now than I ever have and don’t feel any remorse about it.

It’s a great improvement over their old system that destroyed items during the transmutation. Players were constantly losing valuable gear or valuable skins. The forums used to be full of upset players and white knights insulting them. But I’d like to think ArenaNet recognized their old system was costing them customers and that was the catalyst for developing the new (money making) system.

my greatest fear is anet do u still make money from gw2?is it still profitable or at least cover the maitanance cost/staff salary?

In the last NCSoft quarterly report, GW2 revenue came in at in excess of $7M American per month (over $21M for the quarter). I might be under-reporting but the PDF is zipped and my Winzip got deleted, so I’m operating off memory. That line item did not include royalty payments from the China release, just the numbers from NA/Eu. The 3rd quarter report will be out in mid-November.
