my problem with crafting mawdrey
Only 11g to get artificer to 400. Its really that simple.
why dont the guide take into account you can level afew points just combining luck?
My problem is that it requires running fractals, which I have no interest in doing.

Because you can’t buy luck

And 100 to go to 500, wtf anet. wtf… I mean wtf.
It’s working as intended. Part of Mawdrey’s design was to give crafting players something valuable to resell.
A Clay Pot, for example, is 8g44s off the TP. Between the crafting level barrier, the time investment for geodes, and the daily creation limit, it retains a high price, making it something crafters can sell at a profit. Grow Lamps and the two types of Plant Food are in a similar position.
If you don’t have a 400 artificer, you can either buy the Clay Pots or you can invest in an artificer. Building your own artificer to 400 is actually pretty cheap, compared to the clothing crafter you need to get to 500 for the Heat Stone. (Or you can buy it from other players, giving them something of value to create.)
Edit:
As for needing to run fractals, I don’t usually do fractals, but it wasn’t terrible. It helps if you go on a day when Scale 1-10 Fractal is one of the dailies, and you find a casual-friendly group. I did some fractals for Mawdrey, and now I’m interested in doing them more often. \o/

Thanks for the tip, Redenaz. Will have to watch for that.
I crafted Mawdrey too.
As enjoyable as questing for the parts was, I must say it was a blessing to be able to buy some of the materials.
Guess you haven’t seen that bloodstone brick requirement yet. . . .
Really? Crafting disciplines are your problem?
My problem is the stupidly low drop rate of fox fires.
I definitely bought a lot of materials off of the TP while making Mawdrey, specifically the Foxfire Clusters and some lodestones. I crafted the craft-able parts, which took several weeks with the time-gating, but I’d still be at it if I tried harvesting all the raw materials personally.

I think the drop rates are higher in Silverwastes. My sample size is too small to draw conclusions from, but I usually get about 1 cluster/3 trees there.

Really? Because I’m getting a 1 cluster/100 tree rate here.

Fair bit of disparity there. It shouldn’t count toward it, but what’s your magic find? I’m sitting on ~350% average there.

117% ish. But don’t think magic find affects rare gathering chances.
I don’t think so either, but other than luck differences, it’s the only thing I could think of.
My problem is that it requires running fractals, which I have no interest in doing.
You just have to do a fractal level 1 once per day for 5 days (less if you take advantage of a daily).
Come on it’s not that difficult! Think about those who grinded fractals to get their ascended capacitors.

That was my biggest drawback as well but now that you can get a Pristine Relic for running 1 little piece of a Fractal or 2 for running the complete set it shouldn’t be so bad. Just think if you get a Daily with both Fractal options you could run a lvl 1 Fractal and get 3 relics. I did it before the Dailies changed so had to run 10 complete Fractals it wasn’t so terrible and I met some really nice people.

Of course it’s not difficult. But some of us just don’t care for fractals, even if they’re easy. The reason I don’t do fractals unless I HAVE to is because I don’t know if I’m going to get lucky and get four good fractals, or if I’ll end up with cliffside AND dredge AND Mai Trin. I don’t usually have enough time to sit down and do all of that.
Recently the rarity of foxfire has increased greatly. I’m lucky to get 1/100 where as before I would get more like 10/100.
I think you are overlooking that Mawdry is somewhat considered a Prestigeous Item
it’s a commitment item that is supposed to be hard and time consuming to get..
these kinds of items are highly sort after and supposed to be challenging in ways so that obtaining them requires you to commit to it..
I only got Mawdry a few months ago.. it took a lot of work.. a lot of items.. a fair bit of time to do.. and now I wear it proudly knowing that I put in the effort to obtain such a prestigious item
quite frankly my advice to you is simple
do whatever you need.. to get this item.. you will feel good about it when you finally make it that much I can promise.. and if you max out a few crafting proffessions along the way then that’s fantastic you’ll have them for life
I myself have every craft at max except Armorsmith which is around 425ish.. no it didn’t take me forever and no It didn’t cost a fortune either thanks to my hording of every collectable I come accross lol

For me it’s quite the opposite, since finishing Mawdrey about a month ago I had like 3 foxfire drops, it’s all about luck.
I’m also afraid my Mawdrey acquisition will be bound by my will to muster strength to do the fractals. Good to know the dailies for them give bonus relics.

Not a “Prestigeous Item” at all. Just a forced grind to be able to make use of all your blood stone dust.
Like so many others, I have everything needed to make Mawdry then I found out I needed 5 Pristine Fractal Relics.
Oh well, moved all the completed materials into my bank progress ended.
Guess you haven’t seen that bloodstone brick requirement yet. . . .
Hehehe… this really made my day.

For the people that don’t like fractals (just like me), there is a daily where you only need to do 1 fractal (not a set of 4, just 1) and you get a pristine relic, usually people do the swamp fractal, it takes about 5~10 minutes to complete.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

And at level 1 its suppose to be long if you get all of these? I ask because 2 days ago I took a group of guild mate into a level 1. They were all new to fractal except 1 who was level 4. We got water/cliffside/dredge/Mai trin and I had to explain everything, it took us 45min. If I take the same group again, it will take 30min at max. Level 1 is just too easy.

Reeeeealy? Well this is some interesting information for us Non-Fractal people.
Thank you.

Is there really a high blood brick requirement? Because I have 77 I need to get rid of and then over 5k dust…

That’s me exactly. The only piece I still need is the mists stone…
Ah, well. One day…

Unfortunately not (only 11K dust in brick/dust form is used IIRC), but someone that can’t make the bricks is going to kitten some more bricks in this thread when they find out…

On the other hand it will affect your chances of getting them as drops from Mordrem.
Then dont craft it.

It’s called “pacing,” and the way it works is, you slowly progress toward your goal over time in small increments.
About the only thing that got my goat was the daily crafting limit on the foods but eh just bought them off the TP. Now, am selling my own food back onto TP when I get the foxfire clusters. Luckily I had decided that as part of my game play I’d level up my crafting professions so I had all the necessary professions at the right levels to craft all the bits I needed. I just got impatient with the food XD
