So today I was putting stuff into the forge, and was having a wonderfully boring time. The thought came to me what if they put the ability on the forge so that you can pick how many times you want to do the recipe you are using? As long as you have the materials you can put in how ever many you want without needing to spend an hour putting in the darn stuff.

Anet if you read this what do you think of this idea? take the grind out of the forge. Please and thanks if you do

I think every player is in favor of making forging less tedious.

On the other hand, there are good reasons why it’s better for the game if it remains somewhat tedious:

  • Currently, because forging requires more effort than crafting, there’s a premium on forged goods, i.e. folks with more gold are willing to pay those with more time to forge.
  • Currently, certain goods are in lower demand (and therefore lower cost) because their primary value is in forged recipes — make it easier to forge and the demand will go up, since it will be easier for everyone to use such recipes.
  • Similarly, certain drops from the forge and randomly as loot are worth more to sell, because they don’t pop up a lot from the forge.

That said, the forge is one of the last completely tedious and boring activities in the game — there’s just no way around suffering through its use sometimes. So, yeah, it would be good to make it more like crafting. However, I can see why ANet hasn’t tackled it yet — it’s a big can of worms.
