name change, race change soon?
I don’t think there’ll ever be a race change, due to the way personal stories work.
Eventually, the money is irresistible, but any time soon? No.
I doubt it will happen. Skills and story lines. Cultural armor and weapons.
Too much to change.

Exactly. Imagine the complaining we’d here from race-changed players who want the gold they paid for their T3 cultural armor refunded.

Or the whiny vanity posts that will come along “Why does this armor makes my new race toon look fat?! It is the same I used for previous race & it looked perfect then. Anet plse fix this asap or I will hold my breath until gw2 website turns blue…”
Just make race change let you re-select creation options and resets your personal story. Cultural armor has a merchant value the same price you paid.
Problem solved.

Just start a new character of the desired race.

Name changes and things like hair are fair enough, but changing your race and/or gender is ridiculously stupid.
Kyxha 80 Ranger, Sokar 80 Necro
Niobe 80 Guardian, Symbaoe 45 Ele
T3 Cultural? just make it tradeable to the merchant of the new race or literally refund to cost at a ‘’refund merchant’’ really not difficult, as for personal story just make it reset and not give any new rewards as you have had them all ready.
fact is it is going to happen it is not difficult just more time consuming than a name change or appearance change that is all,

Karma, skill points, world completion, soulbound items (including ascended gear and legendaries), fractal levels, WvW xp, etc.
There are so many things that your solution doesn’t account for. Just because you don’t want it doesn’t make it stupid. How would it even affect you if someone else wanted it?
well…january we had gender change, february was hair features change, march we get name change….maybe april we will get race change
i know i would buy one in a heartbeat….the coolness of being an asura hit me about 55 levels in…and i really didn’t want to re-level the same class
Not going to happen for obvious reasons. Profession changes are even more likely.

I’ll trade with you Jordo! i want a Charr instead of my Asura.
It will happen sooner or later it will happen, the revenue like any MMO from a race change is too much to resist.
You used to be able to transmute cultural armor to different races, they stopped that. To allow you to change your race would bring up that same issue they already fixed. Race is something that has a lot tied to it already its not something that will be able to be changed. If you want another race then you are going to have to redo everything on them and deal with it.
Professions are another thing that are unlikely to change but I would agree its more likely then race changes.
The difference between things like gender, hair and name changes and a race change is that in this game those are all purely cosmetic choices – they don’t actually affect the gameplay at all. (Although like some people said in another thread regular name changes are apparently a headache for developers and I think the price reflects that.)
How many games actually allow you to change your race? I know WoW does, and UO (which is understandable considering for a long time humans were the only playable race so a lot of people created characters when they never had any choice) but I couldn’t find any other MMOs that do. I’ve never heard of it being an option in a single player game, apart from things like becoming a vampire or werewolf that aren’t available at character creation.

They already said there won’t be an option to change races. And there shouldn’t be one. This is an MMO, the total makeover kit has already gone too far.

yeah, because mmo’s are known for being 100% realistic, so it should’t be allowed to change one’s appearance!
do you really believe what you wrote? it seems you’re just trolling, but I’ve read some rather uneducated opinions on these forums, so it’s hard to tell.
this is a game, highly focused on looks, skins and prestige. changing anything and everything about one’s character is what this game is about, so every kind of makeover kit only follows in line. a race change would fit in just as well, apart from the technical difficulties with cult. armor.
I never understood the desire for a race change until I played a sylvari engineer up to level 36 and discovered via the personal story that, gosh, I sure don’t like these sylvari guys. I thought about rerolling, but by that time I’d hit 400 in jewelry on that character. All those mats, wasted! The horror!
Still, I no longer wanted to play that character. So I bit the bullet and rerolled. Human engineer. Made it to 26 then crafted my way to level 37 – and beyond!
The moral of the story: now I understand the desire for a race change. And I sympathize. For what it’s worth. Probably won’t ever happen, but yeah. If it was in my power to make it so, I would.
Hi everyone,
So far there are no news of an upcoming race change feature.
As soon as we know something, we will inform you.
Thanks for your understanding.
