new leggies > old leggies
On the flip side, the footprints for the new legendaries last for a tiny amount compared to the old ones. In fact, for many, they might as well not exist due to the incredibly short duration.

yeah but that also aplies for some of the old ones.
It can just be that we are used to the old legendaries and these are new aswell, I dont see the need for change just keep up the good work by adding more weapons Anet
Well they are slowly upgrading the effects on the old legendaries, so I think that on some level ANet agrees with you and is taking steps to address this
Frostfang, my first legendary. I made it after Astralaria had been released. The axe was for my Norn warrior so I’d say the ice weapon suits him. Astralaria is a nice axe but so is Frostfang, I’d say it’s a draw.
Nevermore, amazing looking staff. Was at one point trying to make it, made a Mystic Tribute intending to use it to make Nevermore.
Then Eureka came out and I focussed on that, used my Mystic tribute. My warrior is my main character and I like mace as an off hand weapon. Eureka looks amazing, especially with Frostfang main hand. I like my character’s wrists, one surrounded by ice, the other by fire. I prefer the way Eureka looks to the way The Moot looks.

Well so far:
Nevermore > Bifrost
Chucka and Champawat > Dreamer
H.O.P.E. > Quip
Frostfang/Astralaria (tie)
Flameseeker of Prophecies > Shooshadoo
Erueka > Moot
I will add though, Moot and Shooshadoo are by far the best joke weapons. But this is about which legendaries look best, and there’s nothing legendary about joke weapons.
Forgot to mention, OP, Flameseeker does have complete arm effects, unsheathe (with sounds), projectile, footsteps, and pretty much everything every other legendary has, except Juggernaut, because it’s the only one that adds armor effects.

Astralaria is the only legendary that doesn’t look like another BL weapon. Every edgelord has the nevermore and the effect is only cool when the staff is stowed.
I prefer the old legendaries to the new ones until they make an ocean-based legendary.
And new models of my car have nicer features than my current car.
Seriously old things need to depreciate and new things need to be put in a pedestal. We’d probably have more new legendaries right now and even weapon combinations giving as access to additional legends if Anet only cared about moving forward.
All this backtracking and tinkering with old content and old recipes just holds progress back. If tech companies kept handing out free upgrades for old tech just to keep the value of that old tech comparable to the new tech then people wouldn’t bother with the new tech. If you want to get the base interested in crafting new legends then you stop tinkering with the old ones let their value drop a bit and put all your effort into bigger better new legends. That person rocking and old legend in town isn’t drawing eyes because old legends are easier to craft or plentiful but rather it’s because it’s an OLD legendary.
All this effort updating old legendaries and we don’t even have a full set of new legendaries. Nerf precursor crafting to drain the girders of their mats since that may req for pres or so high they encourage hoarding since you know your going to need all your mats for something eventually. If the bar is set to high many won’t even try. Then release new legends that are superior to the old ones.

Some older ones need a bit of a rework. Kind of agree with that. They are probably working on that slowly as they have been doing for years now.
Would still be rather surprised to see the next greatsword outdo Twilight.
I think Flameseeker is flashier than the new shield. Admittedly I haven’t seen the new one in the game yet, only in the preview window but it doesn’t seem to have as many effects.
But I don’t think they’re necessarily trying to either make the new ones better or make sure the old ones are better, they’re just making them different so players have a choice of legendaries to go for even if they’re making a specific weapon.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Astralaria was my first 2nd gen and imo it is one of the most detailed and complex legendary. The amount of detail if you zoom like 10 cm in front of it is insane. No other legendary I have (7 and counting so far) is so detailed.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Even the old legendaries had different classes, the good ones and the bugged/broken ones with subdued effects. The only one thats remained gay through all the changes is the unicorn bow.
