new player opinion about GW2
Dungeons are meant to be more challenging than open world content. All of the bosses have tells, ( ways to visually spot the attack). Everything is a challenge till you know whats going on. I would suggest joining some more exp players, it will make the encounters more enjoyable and you can start to see how the mechanics work.
Sorry you gave up so soon, its actually a great game.
First of all I will tell you that dungeons is something anet has stopped working on. Now it’s raids an fractals instead. Some traps are bugged and can’t be turned off and hasn’t been fixed in 2 years.
Number 2, I remember when I was new to the game and got angry at dungeons as they where to hard. But now they are so easy that you do them as a farm.
The thing is that the game battle mechanic is very different than many other mmo and it’s alot more about active dodging, blocking and evades and not passive evade stats. Bosses do have very telegraphed tells so they are pretty easy to evade and also don’t use power, precision, ferocity stat combo if you are bad at dodging.
Dungeon storymode are pretty easy but can be tricky at lowest level possible, so I suggest get gear for your level and find a build that fits your stat combination.

hi friends, i am new in gw2. I bought the game and first impression was really good about the game until i reach lvl 35 and i joined ascalonian catacombs. Then i saw that pve is very diffrent in this game.In short terms 1 hit (boss) 1 dead (player). I found this very boring , the mechanics are very bad made….i mean at least the bosses should have a kind of warning before they cast a spell so i can know when to avoid damage but nothing….i can t even do damage and i am already dead…and the traps on the floor another bad idea.I am very dissapointed and i just quit the game because of pve mechanics…
When we first started playing we too had a hard time in dungeon… we’d die a lot but as you get used to the game and learn to play your character properly it will change, now a days most runs no one gets downed much less dies. Also look a bit at your gear, because I dont believe any boss in any dungeon should be able to 1 hit. If you’re having that kind of trouble and all your gear is level appropriate you might consider picking something with more toughness stats.

Also apologies cause i forgot to give you the most important tip of them all.
You said you really enjoyed the game while leveling to 35 and then Dungeons killed it for you, well be aware that during development this game had 1 important core pillar and that was that you should be able to play the game like you want to. Arenanet delivered on that and thus if you dont enjoy dungeons you dont have to quit the game you can simply quit dungeons. There is nothing in dungeons that you need. This is not like other MMOs there is no best in slot gear locked behind any type of content. All that you get from dungeons is a set of unique skins per dungeon and even then you dont even need to give up on that if you choose to ignore dungeons, there are other ways you can go to earn those same skins.
That being said my suggestion would be play the content you enjoy until you feel confident with your profession enough and then try dungeons later, you’ll find them much easier.
