new to guild wars 2
In my opinion Guild Wars 2 is the best value for money when it comes to MMORPG’s .. Scratch that .. When it comes to games.
You have tons of content to dig through, and there is an expansion coming soon.
So yea, def worth your money and time.
You can create any class you feel like, allthough I would probably not go with elementalist or engineer as a newb. They are pretty complicated proffesions to master.
Most popular proffession I believe is warrior.
Unlike WoW there is no sub fee. GW2 has more action based combat, you have to dodge out of enemy attacks and think about where you place yourself. The combat is much more exciting and fun than WoW.
Also GW2 have no gear treadmill. When HoT (expansion) is released, GW2 will have no new lvl or gear tier. This game is more about getting rare skins.
Allthough a “mastery system” is coming soon that will provide new kind of endgame progression.
Have fun in Tyria
I agree with Jokke, i also bought the game a month ago and i have loved every single second of it, you get your money’s worth guaranteed.
Like pve? Do map completition and dungeons
Like pvp? Do pvp all day and level and get nice rewards not to mention exotic end gear
Like stories? do story mode
Like challenges? Do jumping puzzles
This game has everything for most people, trust me you made a smart choice sir
thank you guys very much and i cant wait to start playing game is at 70%>< so close, i have one more question.
-what is a good server to start on or a good server for PvP, i have been reading and seeing problems with some servers and would like to avoid that at all cost
It says the popularity when you choose, I went with desolation :P
If you want an active WvW server then check the WvW rankings. Anything in the top six should give you lots to do there. (WvW = World vs. World, in which you are upleveled to 80 but keep your PvE gear and build). For sPvP (structured PvP), server doesn’t matter.
For PvE in general, there’s not really such a thing as a server any more, you just get jumbled in with people from all over until the map is full and a new map is generated. Technically you should see more folks from your base server, guild, friends list, and party, but that’s honored more in the breach than the observance.
The High/Medium/etc listings go to how many accounts are on a server, not how active they are in player base or how many of those accounts go to WvW.
Hint for initial set up once in: make a new tab in your chat box and toggle map chat on in it, then off in your main tab. You can click the map tab to ask questions and see call-outs on events locations, but not have it spam away other information in the main tab.
In addition to what everyone else is saying, remember this is not WoW. Obvious, I know, but there are many people who started their MMO career with WoW and are then surprised when other games are actually different. So, if you’re doing mostly PvE, don’t go looking for quest hubs. Instead alternate back and forth between your personal storyline, completing all the hearts/vistas/points of interest in a zone and public events. You’ll be a lot happier if you don’t try to grind out levels, too.
Remember that mobility is a huge part of the gameplay here. Most skills/spells can be used while moving. Doing so can increase survivability and general effectiveness.
