I have Keyboard Razer Black Widow Ultimate and there are Buttoms “M1 M2 M3 M4 M5”
i cant set m1 to do “22 33 1 4 2 1 64 12 9” for a song in a musical instrument?
or like my Razer Ouroboros with 7 buttons? i cant make 4th button to be 7 8 9?(all utilities?) what kind of benefit i can have from that upon other players?
or M2 for f1 f2 f3 f4? wtf is this? why am i not allowed i spent so much money on my pc gear to play a game that tells me i cant use them?

Not understanding a games Terms Of Service before spending money on said game might be the issue here.

many games do not allow for the use of macros within the game environment. Particularly when there is PvP involved. Read your games ToS before purchasing hardware!

The general rule of thumb for GW2 is that one action = one keystroke or button click. They don’t allow macros or buttons that do multiple actions in one press.

As the other poster said, When you logged into the game, you had to say OK to the EULA. Read it, just don’t think that you can do anything you want because you spent money on hardware.

The rule of A.Net is 1 key = one action (this includes MACROS). So, by using macros on your keyboard you violate the EULA and get a permaban from the game.

The old phrase is true – reading is fundamental.

If a game is to be a test of player skill, it shouldn’t be a test of player equipment. There’s too much of that already.

I had macros in other games and it completely trivialized parts of the game. I’m glad there are no macros here.

If it’s just for a musical instrument, no one is gonna find out and ban you anyway.
for gameplay it wouldn’t really be viable to just macro quee up skills lmao.

edit: wow the amount of white knighting.

This is what you’d call a game of player skill and ingenuity rather than one of “I pressed a button to make all baddies go boom”. The benefit you could have over other players is that you’d be able to execute your skill combinations at a faster rate than them (or for them to interrupt).

Macroing is heavily frowned upon in any and every PvP-focused MMO I know of, and is usually against the game’s Terms of Use/Server or EULA, however it’s very difficult to prove if someone’s macroing or not

I only see people explaining that this is spelled out in the ToS. The OP asked two question. The more worrisome was that they did not seem to understand that their macro’s would have a detrimental effect on PvP experiences. This was more important to address, rather than whether they could play an instrument with their macro’s. I agree, that is not a problem, but the latter is. This isn’t blindly sticking up for the devs..it’s just trying to convey that the use is against the rules in the ToS. At that point I beleive, no one cares what the person does in game…it’s their problem.

I’m not sure about allowing macro use for instruments everywhere in-game. It might be somewhat discouraging to never be able to get 1st place in the Choir Bell mini-game without using macros. I suppose it doesn’t matter much, just a few APs and some loot or something. /shrug

Also, if you allow it for one part of the game who’s to say people wouldn’t abuse that kindness and sneak in macros for others in a more devastating way (like sPvP or WvW). The clear and consistent “No Macros” rule or “1 button = 1 action” is good, imo.
