I think someone said you can get the traits now for defending arah. You no longer have to kill the Arah wizard.

But I defend the events 2 times and never got the traits.

Basically I did the event defend the gates of arah. “Ensure that the pact holds the gates of Arah”. But never got the traits.

According to the wiki you need to defeat the High Risen Wizard.

I dont’ know. A bunch of people on reddit says you can get the traits now after they made the change.

I really can’t kill the wizard now. The defend is always successful and never failed. I don’t know how to get the traits.

You have to kill the wizard. I’ve done the defend event several times waiting for the wizard to show up. This is one of the most frustrating of the new traits to get.

Always check your trait panel for how to get traits, not the reddit or even the wiki. If it’s so inconvenient I would encourage you to just buy.

The Risen High Wizard is in the Gates of Arah defense event. He’s usually down about halfway through the event. It’s possible to show up after he’s down and still get event credit, but of course get no credit for killing him.

Can Anet change the events? The maps are either always full so there are always peopele defending and lyssa/arah is never up.

Or the maps are empty so even when they are up, there are no one around. And no new people is ported in since its getting closed.

yes I know. But for some weird reason many people says half a year ago you actually get the traits from defending.

It is just someone who is misinformed as far as I can tell.

The trait is awarded for completing the Defeat the Risen High Wizard and secure the Promenade of the Gods event not the Ensure that the Pact holds the Gates of Arah event.

The Wizard CAN spawn for the defend event…. and killing the wizard is probably what needs to happen to earn the trait…. but he does not always show up for the defend event.

Some of the unlocks are vague in the trait panel. And it’s an appalling state when a system is so inconvenient that you’ve tried to do it for days or weeks and you finally break down and buy a single trait for more than it used to cost to unlock 60 of them.

You “can” get the traits from defending arah. But the wizard must be there. You can’t get the traits for defending if the wizard is not there.

Also besides killing the wizard, you must also finish the defend events before you can get the traits.

This just happened to me. I’ve done this at least twice before and got the trait. During the defense I killed the Wizard and got instant credit without having to finish the event for my triat.

But today, when I killed the Wizard during the defense, I didn’t receive the trait. But my map failed the event on purpose. Was really lame.

I read up, and apparently now the trait is tied in with the event and not just killing the Wizard, which I believe because I didn’t get my Balthazar and Grenth traits till after the events finished.

Shouldn’t Anet looks down on players that forcibly fail an event in order to achieve a goal. I know the defense on temples get harder after every event, but this Arah wasn’t overly difficult. After Wizard died they all said in map chat to fall back and waypoint away, and everyone did. Then again it was a temple, I’m always asking players not to defend Dwayna. So… I guess this is in the same ball park? I wish they tied the traits to defense and not just offense. That way players aren’t yelling at each other to do or not do the defense of temples. Or other events entirely.

This happened to me a few days ago. I was not willing to keep doing the event with the hopes that it would fail and, thus, spawn the Wizard so I bought the kitten ed thing.
