A:

Yes the upgrade removers will remove the infusions for you. Though to get enough to remove all your infusions will cost you 300g in gems.

Though that is a significant savings over 1000g. Might want to wait and see what happens to mat prices with HoT. Could end up cheaper to remake them.

Legendary is not another tier.
It has the same stats as Ascended, you in no way have to get it.
It has the cosmetic advantage of looking cooler.
And a not insignificant convenience advantage of swappable stats.
But those stats are not any better than Ascended.

They meant a new tier, as in something above the current ones, like how ascended was added. New legendary items has actually been known since ascended was first revealed and they hinted of legendary accessories being the first nearly 2 years ago.

I’ve always wondered about that, what would even be the point of a legendary accessory aside from a huge grind/something to work on?
They don’t even have a visible skin.

clearly the advantages of switching stats makes it higher quality than regualr armour and to me thats a new tier common/masterwork/rare/exotic/ascended/legendary each a distinct tier of Armour quality even if stats dont increase

ultimaely when everyone realizes that with only 1 skin for heavy/med/light we will all be using the same weapons and have same Armour skins and back skins and we all look like clones and there’s nothing special about the appearance they will reskin there leg Armour for something else and in the end the ablity to change stats will be the only reason to bother makeing this stuff

im sure ther will be many who will agree with you and that its not a new tier of Armour but also just as many who agree with my point of view better = new tier
its certainly a grey area

It is the same stats as Ascended. Same tier and all. The stat swapping does NOT include your sigils. So even you are built for Zerker and switch to Condi you are still lacking due to runes. So really its about the pretty skin and the status of saying you do raid alot.

Like other people said yes you need extractors to get your infusions back

HOWEVER, salvaging ascended armor is apparently going to be a thing. Id imagine you would lose all infusions/runes when you do so (if they put in an equiv of the bltc salvage kit for ascended items with 100% to get infusions back, people who already bought extractors will be kittened), but who knows what will happen, so i would wait til the expansion to do anything.
