real quick. I am in arah story mode with 2 others. I did not start it so its not my instance. Will beating it still unlock exp mode for me?

the answer is yes, it doesn’t matter who opens it aslong as you finished it.

Just completed it with my bf. It was his instance, I got progression.

As long as you are on the same personal story step (Victory or Death) then it will count, just like any other PS instance.
