Ranger was downed underwater, pet started to heal him, tried to kill the pet, the pet was unkillabe, the healing was insane… so fast so much, I downed that ranger more than 3 times when he got up in the end I gave up and went to beach and dock, the ranger was holding ruins the entire time.
Yes, please fix this.
Sorry, but I think it went more like this:
1. Ranger went down underwater
2. My brain shut down for over 20 seconds
3. Pet started to heal him
4. I tried to kill pet
5. I should have used an interrupt instead
The healing is fine, the amount of healing, is not.
I’m a glass cannon thief, and I was unable to out DPS a ranger being healed by his pet when he was down. This seems sort of silly.
it has been like this since launch.
if anet has not done anything, it is working as intended.
Don’t ignore ranger pets, problem solved.
Like others have said, this skill is on a long cooldown when we first get downed. We can’t use it for like 10 seconds so you have plenty of time to kill us.
Our other downed skills are completely useless so no, you can’t nerf this one.
After reading everyone’s posts, it seems as if all of the complainers are ignoring the fact that they could try to CC the pet while its healing the ranger.
I play a ranger myself, and every time I’m downed and my pet is healing me, the other players just keep trying to kill me or my pet, but they never think to interrupt my pet. The problem isn’t the pet healing too much, but the way you’re looking at how to deal with the situation.
Well killing Downed Ranger in water is something like personal high tier achievment.
Was wondering… Have you guys thought of upgrading your underwater weapons from the beginning xD? Just saying
I’m playing Ranger myself and I have killed a Ranger in underwater combat, so we are not that hard to kill underwater. knock back the pet,interrupt, kill it. Avoid the Ranger to get to the surface for healing.. Problem solved!

I kiled pet and i knock them away but in both cases the ranger was still healing himself afterwards….. After knockback the healing was just delayed 1 sec.
You guys are funny. You lost once in PvP with ranger and now you are crying to nerf his pet healing skill. It’s like I could ask Anet to nerf mesmer and thief becouse everyone are spamming them in PvP because they are ‘too op and I can’t win with them’ (I don’t really care about it to be honest). Pff another angry 10 years old kid who thik he is pro at everythin and lost. So ya… gg.

She’s level 29 but I think she should be nerfed in every respect. Starting with stealth. Get rid of it altogether, it’s OP. Also, I don’t like the warrior’s “100 blades”. Because of that skill my ranger doens’t get accepted in dungeon groups, and in PvP it’s too much effort to dodge. So remove this skill from warriors altogether. Oh, and can you please remove the clone + teleport from the mesmer in downed state? I always get confused trying to kill the real mesmer, it’s not fair.

Whole mechanic for Ranger pets is not good, as well as the whole mechanic of downed while underwater.
I prefer calling out the real issues and not just getting certain tricks nerfed. Pets should be able to die, and underwater downed should be changed to be the same as regular downed….
I’ve only played a ranger to about 20 or so, never in PvP. However, Lick Woulds was simply amazing when it worked. Much better than other profession’s downed #3. I play a mesmer mostly and our downed 3 is just meh.. unpredictable teleport and stealth. Good to prevent a stomp but does little in the way of helping you rally.
That being said, I think rangers get the short end of the stick in enough places that it’s OK if one of their skills is above average. In PvE, there’s been enough times where lick wounds has been interrupted and I’ve died. It happens.
Long story short, if you’re fighting a ranger, make sure you get a CC ready for the pet when they inevitably use lick wounds.. because they will.
ANd meanwhile necro has 1/3 of the downed hp of any other class (not in spvp, is ok there).
I think this is more a problem with underwater combat than rangers in particular.
One month after Rangers get tiny fixes and the tears of nerfage appear, couldn’t see this coming could we lol..
By the way its not that Rangers are overpowered underwater its that most other classes are bad underwater

Then that’s a bug and it ought to be reported so it can be fixed. No other channeled skill (that I’m aware of) cannot be ended by interruption.
Counters are not a valid argument to if an ability is OP or not. If this ability heals as much as people are saying then it should be nerfed 50% minimum.
Just add an underwater dunk and it’ll be fine.
Does the finisher not work underwater? If it does, and you can’t close and use it before Lick Wounds is available and the pet revives and rezes, the problem is with you.
So you’re saying it’s appropriately balanced for a pet to rez a player while taking full dmg from three foes..a pet that can’t heal, block or blind.
The thread’s not about how to finish a Ranger underwater, it’s about the pets OP healing ability.
This is in sPvP? Because if that is the case, any “adjustment” would screw Rangers in the rest of the game. Sorry, sPvP is absolutely the wrong aspect of the game to start “ballancing” classes around. It’s a side show, nothing more. Ranger’s already have enough issues without one of the few mechanics that actually work in their favor being screwed over because of sPvP.
