I am trying to level a character in the low 50s so I can have one of each class by HOT launch. In addition to the noted minimal bloom problem I am getting no XP (or gold from gathering) for half of my entire weekend of game play.

Can someone tell me why I should give up all that time?

Do u mean from the event? The modrem event gives no gold or xp

Otherwise no idea why nothing is giving xp or gold

That is the point of the question. If I was doing my normal stuff I would be making progress to leveling but the mordem events do not do that, even potentially. To a level 80 character that is not that big of a deal until we get masteries but to a pre-80 it is EVERYTHING.

That easy do something else that event a joke lvl some other way

That’s largely up to you. Look at the rewards available* and decide if they are worth giving up loot, mats, exp, and fun for a whole weekend of of grinding like madman and playing like a total jerk (cause it rewards being a jerk)
