I am writing to you because of the snowy Russia. Use the Google translator. I play with the guild with the release (10). At the start, it was said that there is no three archetypes (tank dps and healing) and each profession can be a heel and a tank and DPS, the player chooses. But in reality, but to play by any other DPS comes out.

I love playing heal, those who Spaeth others. I like to play a tank, the one who stands strong attacks and monitors the battlefield. But here I do not have such opportunities. Contrary to the developers.

I tried all the profession as a healing, even a thief. Most were produktinvym engineer and guardian. But even they are not able to heal the incoming damage by being completely in hile. Most healing abilities in a distance of 600 feet. At Guard they also act only 5 players (shouts for example). How to play my heel, I do not know. I have become uneasy when ask for sogildiytsy heal, but I can not, just nothing. I rolled over and shouts and used a staff and mace hilil use aura, except that did not dance with a tambourine. Distance is small and frail too weak.

As a tank, I ogrebayut very much count DEF does not save any of conditions or from incoming damage. For example on the idea of ??a shield should increase protection. It increases, at 61 def +90 skills (150), is not enough. A block, but I’m sorry there rolled about 30 seconds and last for only 3 seconds. Why shield attack? Why not put in place its defense? Why not give it a property with a certain chance to block damage? And why block shield is now working on all sides? As a warrior booty reflects shocks? I am a historian by profession and I do not remember a single battle where Knight ducked and saved his kitten blow aimed at him.

Ability to control a rather strange, hang a couple of seconds, and roll back a long time. No I am against it to keep the enemy all the time in the camp, or fear. Well, if the player has decided to become controler the field, give him a chance, let him not be damage but will be adequate Exposure controls (Exposure controls system is well done in Warhammer Online, for example).

Why not give a combo field tangible protective properties (except that withdrawal states), but give the increase in damage?
To formulate briefly the main claims that, being feeble, I can not heal. As a tank, I can not keep the tank and blow, as cause. But being the DPS I can kill. It’s not fair.

One more request. Do something with the gate to the fortress, they are actually cardboard. Yesterday we were in 2 (I and what that guy left) captured the fortress, it is not normal.

My guild (Imperial Guard) pvp direction. We spent dozens of hours of tests and inspections in razocherovalsya combat system where there is space only DPS, took a break in the game.

Please do not let the game die. Many good games started only because of inertia umeraet developers and their unwillingness to compromise.
With respect Anton Alekseev.

I think:

1) He was under the impression that all classes can Tank, Heal and DPS.

2) He likes to play a healer to save others, and a tank to take hits like a boss, but there’s no way he can do that, despite what ANet ‘said’.

3) Engineer was most productive healer, but even then he couldn’t heal to full. Distance is a problem with Guardian heals.

4) He wants to know why the shield doesn’t have a block chance, and why the block stance works when hit from behind. To OP: Aside from Crit Chance, stats aren’t RNG based

5) He wants to know why characters can’t forsake DPS for control. _To OP: Warrior with Hammer + Greatsword, Throw Bola (and Shrapnal Mine if you’re a Charr) with the Leg Specialist trait is a pretty strong control build).

6) He wants to know why the forts in WvW are made out of leftover boxes from Xmas presents.

7) He thinks the developers should compromise and bring healers and tanks in, so that the game doesn’t die.

Translating the translation:

I am writing to you because it’s snowing here in Russia. I’m using Google translator. I have played with my guild since release (10 players(I guess?)). At the start, it was said that there were not the standard three archetypes (tank dps and healing) and each profession can be a healer and a tank and DPS, as the player chooses. But in reality, the only way you can play is to DPS.

I love playing healers, those who protect others. I like to play a tank, the one who stands strong through attacks and monitors the battlefield. But here I do not have such opportunities, contrary to the developers statements.

I tried all the profession as a healer, even a thief. The most productive were Engineers and Guardians. But even they are not able to heal the incoming damage received by others with their abilities. Most healing abilities have a range of 600 feet. As a Guardian they also effect only 5 players (shouts for example). How to play my healer, I do not know. I have become uneasy when asking for (party-wide?) healing, but currently there is nothing useful. I rolled over and shouted and used a staff and mace attacks, used aura, everything except dancing with a tambourine. The range of heals is too small and the power is too weak.

As a tank, I found that my armor did nothing against conditions or most regular damage. For example, a shield should increase protection. The amount it increases, at 61 def +90 from skills (for a total of around 150), is not enough. There is a block ability, but I’m sorry, the cooldown is about 30 seconds and blocking last for only 3 seconds. Why does a shield have an attack? Why not put in place more defense? Why not give it a property with a certain chance to block damage? And why, when blocking with a shield, does it works in all directions? Does a warrior’s butt reflect attacks? I am a historian by profession and I do not remember a single battle where a knight bent over and saved his kitten from a blow aimed at him.

Control abilities are strange and weak as well, only working for a very shot time, then on a long cooldown. Now I am against a player being able to lockdown or fear a player forever. But, if the player has decided to play as a controller, give him a chance, let him do his damage but put in a system of diminishing returns (Diminishing returns system is well done in Warhammer Online, for example).

Why not allow a combo field to have tangible protective properties (that last while standing in it), or to give a significant increase in damage?

To go over my main points again, heals being too weak, I can not heal. As a tank, I can not maintain control without dying. But being a DPS I can kill. It’s not fair.

One more request. Do something with the gate to the keeps, they are like cardboard. Yesterday it only took two of us (I and some other guy) to capture the fortress, it is not normal.

My guild (Imperial Guard) focus on pvp. We spent dozens of hours of tests and inspections in attempting to deny that this combat system only has room for DPS, and have now took a break in the game.

Please do not let the game die. Many good games started to fail because of their developers and their unwillingness to compromise.

Professions are build to specialise in something through:

  • Traits
  • Weapons
  • Utility skills

In short, Builds.

Yes, every profession can do everything. But not as well as someone who has built for that particular role.

They never stated that every class could be a dps, tank or healer they stated that every class could heal. As for adding the holy trinity in go play one of the dozens of other mmos that has a holy trinity instead of the one that doesn’t have it.

Anet doesnt have to bring the trinity back, BUT…

There is no reason why they could not add a full-on healer build to certain classes, say Elementalist, Guardian, Engineer. This would not make the game reliant on a trinity , it would however give those who like to heal (rather than damage) a chance to enjoy the game also.

As for those idiotic comments like go play another MMO, why should people have to go play another game. GW2 is the best MMO out (at this time) but this games lack of 1 simple feature, the ability to heal, has alienated a lot of players !

Professions aren’t the culprit behind this “jack of all trades master of none” AN went without the classic trinity role for professions making the mechanics of the encounter the reason why since during a particular encounter you will be kiting, healing, tanking and dps’ing and since everyone will be doing this at some point no build can effectively be traited to be a master of any of them.

You have the classic trinity mindset but if you think there isn’t a trinity in this game you are wrong its just disguised within the encounter but it is a trinity nonetheless. They have taken the trinity that is usually spread across the party/group and have required everyone to be at some point the healer, the tank and the dps so in essence we are all trinities.

I’d have to disagree with you there.

My Warrior is built for Control (since there isn’t any tanking [having aggro isn’t tanking. Tanking is keeping aggro off of everyone else while they whale on the guy]).

I can spam Immobilize often and on more than one enemy, interrupt the big attacks and then burn through Defiance ready for the next attack. I can take a beating thanks to all of the passive health Regen, meaning I’m not constantly kiting.

I can’t deal lots of damage, and I can’t heal or buff party members outside of Combo Fields, down to my choice of skills and traits.

Now, while another Warrior can also do that, if they aren’t running a few key Traits (namely Leg Specialist, Hammer Mastery and Fast Hands), they aren’t going to be able to do it as well as me.

As for other professions, if they haven’t brought them sorts of skills, or traited to make them more effective, then their going to be nowhere near as effective as me. By that logic, I have ‘mastered’ the role of Movement Controlling.

Same with the Trinity. Sure, that Druid can throw out a few heals. But unless they’re specced and geared for it, they aren’t going to be able to do it as well as one who is.

Adding healers would probably also alienate players. The system isn’t perfect as it is, but I think that’s mostly because of encounter design. In order to add pure healers in any way, a ton of redesigning would have to be done on professions and combat mechanics, because the game was built around the concept of not having pure healers. And the minute a profession is given the ability to be “the designated healer,” chances are very good that whichever one is considered best at it will be so highly in demand that playing that profession any other way in a group will be out of the question.

Just saying “Go back to WoW” or whatever is rude and unproductive, but the lack of dedicated profession-based roles is one of the core features of the game, and changing it would make GW2 entirely different. That’s why it’s not simply a question of adding a feature other MMOs have. It would be more like changing, say, TERA’s combat to tab-targeting, or removing mounts from WoW in favor of waypoints.

I can understand him fine, not sure what part confused you, oh that’s right you’re just trolling.

OP, all valid points, long story short this is a pure DPS game… it’s never going to change, unfortunately.

please do not mention WoW, it’s not a game, its a delirium. I would play a warrior controller, but I do not heal, but garbage and 1 sec stun or 1 second if immobilization is not Exposure controls, no it is not needed, the same effect it achieved Guard with the greatsword or hammer.
I would like to hear the answer to the developer or the one who knows, is there any way of solving such a problem or not. for previously grateful.

I agree, at the moment, you only need dps, support & tanks are useless, as a support i would like to buff my whole team up during the whole fight, feeling important and having a real impact as a support.
