and all from the same pvpbank bullkitten

THB, I have not seen any goldsellers for a long time, except for the last few days. I assume they’re making a push now because season 2 just started. They’ll be gone again in a few days.

There will ALWAYS be gold sellers. As long as they can scam someone out of their account.

Be thankful it is not as kittenome games, which is non-stop.

I had a whisper from them just yesterday, in the middle of group guild RP commemorating our fallen in LA. It was really annoying. At least I haven’t found a limit on the number of blocked accounts yet.

It does always seem to be the same gold seller company. Maybe ANet/NCSoft could do some sort of targeted action against them?

Only works if the company is in the US. Most are in China, so what can you do about that? The Chinese government allows it happen.

I’ve been playing for 2 years and it that time only received 2 gold selling whispers, both times i just replied that I don’t buy gold and asked them not to spam me, thing is, it actually worked.

It seems Anet made a real good job against mail spaming, but now gold sellers are using private messages, black listing them can’t be a solution as they change names too often.

I had 1 whisper day before yesterday, my first in SEVERAL months, no problem on my end.

What server are you on? I’ve never had anyone try and sell me gold. The only gold seller that I see is ANet themselves.

This isn’t really a priority because of the available block feature. Annoying at times, yes.
But, I’d much rather them spend their time on hackers/cheaters, & most definitely, an overhaul of the report system.

I was wondering if they are targeting people through the Leaderboard. They can see not only the high AP people but can also see the accounts which log on frequently and can use this information to pick out the active accounts.

I’ve probably got about 80 gold sellers on my block list now. Each one I get a whisper from the same website, offering ‘free gold when you buy this’ (I think that’s their futile attempt to over-ride the rule of you’re not allowed to sell gold by selling items instead and giving gold).

Each time, I right click and report for both Botting & Gold Selling, just to make sure ArenaNet get the message. To be honest, in my block list, most of them don’t show as online anymore after about a day or two, so it looks like ArenaNet is doing something about it, and pretty quickly after the report too. These gold sellers have many, many accounts, so that is probably why it seems nothing it being done.

ArenaNet can only work on it, one account at a time. They will no doubt be using proxies to hide their IP addresses.

It only seems like it worked, but they are bots, not an actual person typing it out! Best thing to do is to right click and report for gold selling, then block them. Glad you only had 2 in the 18 months the game’s been out though. I’ve had about 10 in the past week or so!

Right, the goldseller-pms getting worse these days and it is so annoying.
I always report every pm i get and block them after.
And still… im in the middle of a zergfight in a very crowd Wvw-map – i get them…
…beeing in my homeinstance for several hours and i get them there also!!
I receive ~ 2 every day >.< doh

I log in almost every day, often for several hours at a time, and I can’t remember the last time I had a message from a gold seller. I also doubt your achievement points would have anything to do with it, except maybe they’d target the people with very, very few hoping that they’re new and don’t know the rules and/or are more likely to buy gold to try and catch up.

But honestly it’s not in their interest to do any kind of filtering. In the time it would take them to search the leaderboards to pick out 1 appropriate target they could spam 50 random people they happen to see in a map. Sure maybe only one of them would be interested, but it still gives them better odds.

This is backed up by the fact that every time I’ve gotten a message (either mail or whisper) everyone around me has too.

If anything raises your chances of getting spammed it’s probably either being on the same servers they use for botting or spending a lot of time in heavily populated areas where they’re likely to go to find people to spam.

The interesting part is they always PM me, often in the middle of a sPvP ranked match where I find myself checking player names just to be sure someone from the opponent team is not trolling me. But no, its just some random “abcdefg” sending PMs.

Their activity seems to have increased alot lately. Blocked and reported 3 only today. Are we having some free trial or something?

i’m surprised that they’re still in game, i haven’t seen a gold bot seller in almost 8 months.

Dhuum I almost forgot about that but that would work on GW2 as you report a bot or a gold seller and Dhuum would come and kill them ohhh that would be nice or we can keep sending the reports and having them deal with it but yes the whispers are annoying

LOL, kewl, learn something new every day and yes, I played today and every day, gotta do those dailies.

Simply cannot understand why they dont use the profanity system in the chat, to make it harder for gold sellers. Many of these gold sellers type in their website, so whenever you find a a goldseller site, block that name from being written in chat.
For instance: if you write “goldsellers site” just program it to show **************** instead or supress the chat containing that word, this will make it harder for goldsellers to use the chat system.

Suggestions i would have for arenanet

1. when same spammail is reportet alot on a day (maby 20x from different people?) than this text should be blacklisted and blocked from system for 3 days

2. should you arenanet guys PERMA Ban this accounts than you should delete them from our blocklist – PLEASE

3. Limit MAILS from new accounts – like 1 month old 3 mails per day 2 months old 6 mails per day 3 months old 9 mails and than per month 1 more

• no normal player would use this limit

4. allow me to turn option to allow only whispers from friendlist + guilds + accounts odler than a half year

I don’t like gold sellers either but I haven’t been harassed by one in months so they must be doing something about it.

I’m on Crystal Desert, and I got 8 pms today. Several people in ganderran fields were complaining about it too. My block list is growing rather quickly.

Yeah, there has to be made finally improvements to the chat system.
Every silly normal Email-Program even has a simple Suppress System, with that you can create for yourself easily own “rules” with that you can decide, what the program should do exactly with incooming e-mails.

So if you for example get a Mail for a specifix person, you can set up a rule, what the game should do directly with that mail, like deleting it, or automatically sending it also to someone else…

Or the same could be done, if the mail contains some specific content/text in either the headline or the content text, liek for example as it ha been mentioned a website or some specific key words that these darn gold sellers always use to give the system the rule to automatically delete thse mails, not showing you that you got a mail at all.

The same could be done for whispers, that the whisper suppresses the message instantly, if in the message are certain key words, that the system should block off from you being shown.

Life could be so simple and more relaxing, if the game would finally get these simply filter systems into the Mail and Whisper System.
