I just hit lvl 70 and there are no quest givers like in the zones under lvl 70..So am i supposed to mindlessly run around and search for events?

Are all the 70-80 zones without quest givers thus forcing the player to run around like a kitten or what?

Not how i want to reach level 80 running around..bad enough 90% of lvling is due to running.

Fun game but if thats all there is then im basicaly done. If i want mindless stuff id go play wow or swtor.

Kindof. Pretty much by the time you reach straits of devastation , you’ll exploring the island, doing events as you go along etc. Mostly exploring and trying not to die imo. Events aren’t bad either.

Though you still have your story quest too as well as a dungeon or two if I recall on the island as well.

Frostgorge Sound has maybe a dozen hearts, and Orr has none – you won’t be able to get to 80 on those dozen hearts, though.

Well i gues my lvl cap is going to be lvl 70 lol..No way in hell im going to run around for 10 lvls. Im not into the dungeon thing in this game as they tend to be realy bugy and stupid. My story quest has stoped at lvl 62 thanks to another bug. Cant complete it…cant complete it on my lvl 70 or 60 lol. Thanks for the confermation..looks like im taking a long break.

Should be able to easily get to 80 just by doing all the zones and stuff and then straits of devastation. That’s what I did. As soon as I finished Straits, I was 80.

Good for you. Dont think you people are getting it..i dont like running around and theres no point in killing random monsters thanks to arnets dumb move on implementing DR ontop of that xp from per monster is super weak.

Just not my cup of tea.

I understand completely. I would suggest rather than combat – exploring the rest of orr. By doing that alone, you should be able to get to 80 easy.

So you don’t want mindless stuff, but you’re annoyed that there are no arrows pointing to where you need to go?

ok mr half glass is empty tying to be witty, ill explain it to you. Pre lvl 70 you have the quests and events with everything else. You develope a sense of direction ontop of the super boring of runing to get to those spots needed for leveling. Take away that direction it becomes mindless running around for those who like me are new to the zones.

Well this is how i see it:
It’s supposed to be a warzone. And warzones are chaos. I really like the way they made the place. It’s a constant battle between two sides. Put a bunch of hearts in there and it ruins the whole idea. You go there for war and war only, not to help some farmers water their plants ( going to extremes with this one, but i’m making a point :P ).
And by the time you get there you’re supposed to know how things worked anyway. I got to 80 yesterday just by following the story and doing the events that came up on the way.

Why not just go somewhere other than Orr? I just got level 74 in the Plains of Ashford for god’s sake. If you need hand holding, there’s still plenty of places that have it around.

So you need to have someone hold your hand. Basically. That’s fine. I actually like it that I’m not being let go – free to wander where I want to wander. But if you do not like that – why not go level up in one of the lower level zones? Or PVP?

Hearts were added to the game way after events. Initially, the idea was to send you out into the world to explore and to have you encounter events on the way (as you can do, of course).

It was then found that players like you might need some holding of their hand to guide them around because they wouldn’t move without a destination. They wouldn’t want to just explore the world and see what happens.

Now, Obviously for the last zones in Orr, it was assumed that having levelled through most of their world, players would have come to understand the concept given above. Players would understand that they can in fact just wander off aimlessly and find events. Furthermore, Orr is endgame. You will farm there, a lot. 95% of the time you spend there, any heart that could be added would already be done. So why add them at all?

However, because they anticipated that some players can’t do without a little guidance, they added another 70-80 zone that has hearts. Not enough to make ten levels by just finishing the hearts, but enough to guide you around, show you the areas where events happen and make you stumble upon the recurring dragon that will also yield good XP, IIRC.

If all of that is not enough for you, I don’t feel like ArenaNet’s vision of what to do at 80 will appeal to you. I for one like it a lot.

I never had a problem lvling and if you do then just 100% all the 70-80 zones you get 2 70+ exotics from each one and a chance at 40 orichalcum ore or gossamer scraps.
Also there are plenty of hearts left in the game to do that will still give you decent exp.

You remind me of this guy I grouped with randomly who proclaimed he hated events and only did hearts. “Hearts give you 100%, events don’t so I don’t do them.”

OT: Take away the hearts, there still are POIs and Skill Challenges scattered all throughout, some are bugged yes but it’s still possible to 100% Cursed Shore just like you would any other map for some nice exotics and crafting mats.

And well, if you don’t like chasing events, have fun not getting karma

The dynamic events seem to be a lot more dense in those last Orr zones, it’s hard to go 10 feet without bumping into one, or seeing the large map events progressing. Most events in those final zones also chain…if you stick around when the event ends it likely goes right on into another one. I don’t really understand why you would be willing to explore zones for 70 levels, and then suddenly be unwilling to explore for the last 10, simply because a few little symbols are no longer on the map.

Hearts were added to the game to help people set in an on-rails MMO mentality to break out and realize they could wander, explore, and take part in the world. By the time you get to 70, they probably figured you should have the idea. Most of your open-world experience, plus your karma, come from dynamic events throughout the leveling curve. Other than points on a map and flavor to make the world feel alive, hearts really are a small aspect of your advancement, 1-80.

As others mentioned, check out Frostgorge Sound. It is a 70-80 zone with the same layout as earlier zones (including hearts) and is actually one of the coolest zones in the entire game. It also has a big dragon fight.

Well, if the game didn’t ram zone completion in your face so hard, there might be grounds to be surprised that someone would proclaim that they only do things which contribute towards it.

In theory, yes. In practice, my experience has been that as I got higher and higher level, events got less and less frequent, and the ones that I did encounter were more and more likely to be bugged out and stuck. I actually felt that the game was training me NOT to rely on events as I got higher level.

Go to Frostgorge Sound. It’s a level 70-80 zone that has the regular stuff, including hearts, though you could also invest in WvW which gives pretty decent chunks of experience for helping capture and defend objectives. Heck, you could also invest in crafting – there’s plenty of ways to gain experience in this game.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal. I’m not really sure why you had that experience. Yes, there are bugs that stop events due to the server being up for much longer without a restart, and they are working on those…but the facts are that there are more events in those zones. Why aren’t you seeing them? I can’t really say, maybe it’s the way you approach the zone, how you move through it, where you hang out? My own personal anecdotal evidence points to the opposite. /shrug

Its fast and easy to level 70 – 80. The events are rather fun in that area too. I did a lot in frostgorge too, that place is fun.
