question about afk weapon ap farming
Your char would just stand there unless you setup a target bot or something.
I wouldn’t be worried about that. If Anet enforced that rule, the majority of the player base in this game would be banned.
People afk farm (10-15 seconds) events all the time. I do it with kitten teq, SB, FE. Anything that can be targetable, I enable auto-attack.
Frankly I’m surprised that option is in game because right now it is getting ‘exploited’
You get into trouble when you use 3rd-party applications, or maybe even setting up macros

Never tried this, but what about a damaging utility skill – purging flames for example.

I’ve “accidentally” afk farmed events for nearly an hour at times. As a beastmaster spec ranger I’m fairly superfluous compared to my pet anyway. So when I stood in an event spot, went to deal with my wife and kid for 45 min, and came back having completed about 7 events I didn’t really feel too badly.
for earth skill 4 focus to kill ambient that respawn, a target is not needed. it is an aoe skill, and can be spammed without a target. Yes I am in doubt. So thought I would asked. Didn’t want to take a chance doing something illegal.
During the early months of the game when botting was common, people were banned for using auto cast or pets and going AFK. It’s classified as automating gameplay and the first offence is a 72 hour ban, with the next one being permanent.

So you’re one of the ones that gets downed all the time at Teq and FE and never says thanks for a res? You might not notice since you’re AFK and all, but both of them spit out AOE’s that down you while you’re watching TV or whatever.
How do you pick up the loot? Won’t it rot after an hour?

Ambients do not have loot. He wants to power his weapon master achievments.

Also, for checking whether it is botting or not, is a moderator going to check on me and ask question for me to answer, or do you just ban me instantly without asking any question?

If you desire a personalized official response, you would contact CS. You may, or more likely, may not, get a response on the forum. ToS states any unattended play is against the rules, and is subject to action. That would probably be the response you would get, regardless.

Well but I’m sitting right in front of the screen.
It’s not unattended, just using game system to automate it.
For most online game, a GM will whisper the suspect and ask questions, and I’ll answer it. But for Anet’s case, I seriously donnu what they’ll do.

Afk means away from keyboard, but I’m right in front of keyboard.
If you are in front of the keyboard, why do you need to put anything on auto-attack? If you are saying you are ‘attending’ your gameplay, then you can attack things with your skills, and no need to question whether this is against the ToS.
If you are not ‘attending’ your gameplay, no matter where you sit, then it is against the ToS. Pretty straight-forward.
