Q:
question: do you type out "kitten"?
A:
I don’t. I preview and try to make up something else instead.
If synonyms of “feces” like “crap” or “bull poo” won’t do, then I would say something creative like “dolyak manure” (e.g.: “That’s a big stinking pile of dolyak manure, and you know it”)
Kittens are something you have in your house lying around eating food and chasing bugs. Not something that should be used to replace word considered “inappropriate” in a forum.
That’s insulting and disrespectful towards cats.
I think the idea was to replace offensive attention-seeking behavior with the most opposite-sounding term possible, and the mental image that comes from someone saying “You’re such a kitten!” seemed to fit.
I type it out, I try not to resort to f-bombing in the first place because it lacks class and imagination, but it’s pretty amusing to toss around a few kittens now and then. And recently I posted “dolyak pudding!” in response to someone’s kittening, and the ten year old in me thought that was hilarious.
If I can’t find a fitting expression ‘kitten’ will do just fine
I CAPS LOCK when I mean it, but yeah, since they replace the word I just type kitten.
I usually use “kitty”. So people know I wanted to call then something but don’t want to get in trouble for using an expletive lol
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
Yup. Adopted the kitten filter in both game and forums (both here and the wvw forum they forced us to). Just as easy to type kitten as the actual words.
Haven’t adopted it in rl talk. Yet.
Please give us a keyring…
I type it- I also use it IRL and on other forums- have gotten some funny looks I must admit
I have done. I felt a bit silly and had a laugh to myself while doing so.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Kittened kitten just kittens all the kitten. Kitten this.
yep I always write out kitten. I’ve found myself doing it on other forums as well… people are usually very confused lol.

kitten this kitteny kitten. i really meant kitten but the kittening system messes up my kitten words
Lol, I do it in-game and on the forums. Ironically the only time ‘kitten’ shows up unintentionally in my posts is because of the overzealous swear filter that finds cusses everywhere.
I often type out the filter-replacement word in games. The chat filter permutations amuse me. If I really need to make my point I can use another word or phrase, like Mithran’s “dolyak manure”.
Heck, I even use filter words in real life sometimes. I used to play a pirate-themed game that replaced the f-word with “scupper”. In real life “scupper” sounds just as dirty to me now when I say it.
Be glad that they don’t use the old GWguru filter.
There if a word entered in the filter each letter would be changed to “RED ENGINE GO”
So the F-word there would appear as “RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO” (RED ENGINE GO x4)
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I just call people bookahs. It’s a derogatory racial term but it’s accepted here.
My language is to pure and clean to ever have such words in it.
(Unless of course I stub my toe or something equally traumatic)
Yup. All the kitten time.

it seems many like them better than the games they comment on.” -Horrorscope.7632
I generally post from work, so I always type out “kitten”.
I even do it at home, now. Just got into that habit I guess. :P
