Why is the right mouse button used to target and why dont we have the option to change this?

I can target with lmb?

Yes you can target with both mouse buttons. For people that use right mouse button to look around makes things very hard to do in battle. This the only mmo that does this an is very annoying and game breaking for us.

yea this is so anoying… in a fight… i move the cam slightly and now im targeting the nearest rock…lmao

Promote skill target in options will fix it. Dunno why people don’t look in options.

Actually left is select while right is attack. Double select = attack.

Still I agree and I know lot of ppl who think the same : it is ridiculous.

I’d like to have both a target and a selected unit but this is beyond my expectations.

Ah that’s why I didn’t see what his problem was, this is one of the first options I turned on when I got the game.

Sigh. When this option is selected and you have targeted something, the only way to deselect that something is either to right click another valid target or left click the environment. Right clicking the environment will not deselect the target. If you are constantly right clicking targets, it’s a play style thing.

Wow really thats the problem right clicking to target. People who use the right mouse button lose there target while in combat when there is multiple enemies around. People who use the keyboard keys to turn have no idea the problem we have.

I use the mouse to turn and I have no idea of the problem you have.

I am not sure how you would even pick out a target ikittenerg anyway. The tab targeting is terrible, and trying to click on an enemy in WvW is just stupid kitten And even if you can manage to click on someone they are lost in seconds in the mass of players. What they need to do is fix tab targeting so it actually targets the nearest enemy.

Once a day for about an hour of my play time. Gotta get badges somewhere.Try right clicking the ground when you turn instead of players or mobs. Works fine for me. And “agree” with Ruprect, tab targeting needs help.

You can map any button, including tab to select nearest target.

I personally use left click to select priority target, right click to control camera, (no turn keys, only strafe keys) and targeting keys:
- nearest © {call target ctrl+c, take target shift+c}
- next target (v)
- previous target (shift+v)

I have no problem with targeting, selecting, or moving camera. I don’t use promote targeting, that’s just lazy…

I never looked but I just assumed TAB was setup by default to select the nearest target. I will have to look when I get home. I try to click on targets but in a mess of enemies it usually clicks the wrong one as they are all to close. Next target and previous target would be nice though and I was unaware of those. Guess I need to look through the hot keys. Q and E would be perfect for target selection as I always have rmb held down and don’t need strafe keys.
