saddest thing you've withness
Belinda’s death was pretty tragic, and that your mentor died wen you play as vigil
Not sure what storyline it was, but it was when the Asura npc who sets bombs to blow up the ship and has to swim out to his death because one of them didn’t go off. Going back to his wife and telling her that he was dead was probably the saddest thing I have seen in game. I keep thinking that our characters are like walking death magnets as everyone who comes in contact with us ends up dead (except that annoying sylvari, Trahearne, most of us want dead anyway).
RIP TONN QQ
Yes that was my saddest part… as an Asura having to tell his Asura wife. Man. Heavy
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
Someone at the Melandru temple today calling someone the “c” word, not even sure what for… maybe something about using a staff on some class.
Also, all the nerfs by ANet in this game. I’ll be waiting for the new Dragon Age game to come out in November (I don’t know if MMO genre is for me as everyone complains they’re all like this). I’m pretty tired of the grind fest this game is. And LS is the worst offender. I can’t even bring myself to finish the LS garbage due to the grind to get anything of value out of it. Dry Top is boring beyond all get out. I’d rather poke my eyes out with a fork than go there.
Nothing, the story telling in this game is god awful.

Threads about lack of cc and support are probably the saddest thing, followed by mounts threads.

That would make it the “saddest” thing you’ve witnessed. =P
Non-sequitur: Bad logic. That makes me sad. Therefore, forums make me sad.

So you know my emotions better than I do? When I say something isn’t sad, it’s not sad in my opinion. Something can be god awful without being sad. So kitten pls.

Parties being abused at the end of dungeons because the two person kick system allows two people to kick everyone else from the party.
Realizing at the end of the Sylvari personal storyline that it was probably the last I’d see of Larra. I loved her endless stream of colorful insults.
Early on playing, I killed a bear and when I did 3 bear cubs came out of a nearby cave to attack me. I understand they’re just pixels and not real, yet at the time I felt kinda sad. Few years ago I wouldn’t have seen anything else than more targets to kill, I guess having kids really does change how you see things.
The death of a certain left handed Charr. I’ve done the stories of all three orders, but that one is the one that felt the biggest one.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
Tybalt and Tonn. You will be missed, friends.
I… I never did the Claw Island story with my Priory character. I couldn’t bare to see Sieran die ;_;
The blix exploit.

Thanks for the spoiler
Its not just Vigil, all three order’s mentors die the same way.
But yeah, that story step so far. Nothing else has matched it (and Forgal(?) was the first one I was with) since. So far nothing else has really had an impact on my sad feels.
(#dropkick)Phlunt taking Taimi’s invention did kind of make me mad though…

Bear falling off the top level in Divinity’s reach and dying.
Tybalt dying wasn’t sad, but it was a good character moment.
Mentioning Redshirt-Belinda even in the same sentence as Tybalt is blasphemy.

Wow that’s like 50% longer than I’ve played in 5x fewer days
And I would guess a nontrivial portion of my playtime is being afk in Lion’s Arch

Bitter forum people make me sad too. ;__; Like, for humanity. Sad, sad.
Back to relevant, I was over my friend’s shoulder when Sieran died. Oddly, I had more of a reaction to that than when Forgal died. Cares given = None.
At least until some Risen chump said “You should have died with Forgal!” I gave that rotted punk the beating of his unlife. /GRR

Thread title really needs a spoiler warning.
I kitten lost it when Tybalt died, son of a gun was my brother and I loved him. I made sure Zhaitan’s mouth was stuffed with confetti in honor of Tybalt.
One time an uplevel tried killing me in WvW…he accidentally aggro’d a boar, and then another one. He died to the boars without me doing anything.

Which brings us to the saddest thing I’ve witnessed: people who can’t stop being bitter about a video game trailer that came out over four years ago.
(edited by Fyrebrand.4859)
Watching an ele run away from me in mistform, in wvw, and come out of it next to a moa, only to accidentally aggro it. It responded by pecking the ele. After a biff with me, the poor ele could only take one hit and down she went. I shook my head the whole time I was going through the stomp animation
Another one… on the bulletin boards after the attack of Lion’s Arch ended:
“Crude scrawls fill the paper. “I can’t find my mommy or daddy.”
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
People that stood on the pillars outside of the bank in old LA trying to impress people with their armor, legendaries, and/or commander tags. Sad AND pathetic.
NPCs that can’t find their moms and dads after Scarlet’s attack.
Parents who say in dialogue how much they hate having to bury their children.
Rage filled NPCs who lash out at Sylvari, any Sylvari.
Me trying to enjoy WvWvW.
Tonn and Apatia, plus the Risen Commander who taunted Forgal’s death.
I could talk about the story, or the mechanics, but I’ll keep this to one thing, probably the SADDEST single thing I’ve seen in the game. I was cruising around drytop and somebody made a guild recruitment message on mapchat saying “come join us, LGBT welcome” and i was like “dude that’s silly, that’s like saying you take -insert minority here-” (expressing how silly it was that you would even have to specify that you take ANY minority, because you know as a society we’re supposedly past that). and he talked to me in PM and told me that a lot of people (himself included) had had bad experiences with discrimination in previous guilds and wanted people to know it was a safe place to join, and i was like……………but…what the…………….our games story line is based around lesbians!

Pretty much this. Add the consistent linking of their items for the next 2+ hours ad nauseum. I would spend hours sometimes crafting in LA and it would be the same 6 to 7 people doing that. Not that I should care since they are happy doing what they are doing (or seem to be). But after spending a ton of time crafting and seeing the same thing from the same people for hours at a time, I wondered if they did this every day. Often times these same people would also engage in the political talks that makes everyone turn off map chats. UGH!
The death of Tegwen in the personal story. Poor Cerys
One time an uplevel tried killing me in WvW…he accidentally aggro’d a boar, and then another one. He died to the boars without me doing anything.
This made me laugh sooooo hard because I’ve seen similar things with Moas…xD
Tybalt staying behind to save everybody else. I know that the other orders’ mentors do so too, but none of them had an ounce of the character Tybalt had.
It’s a bit of a shame, really, that no other character in the story (IMHO) can be believable and almost human like he was.
After that was Tonn that captured me more with the story about him and his wife and of course – telling her of his fate.

The only sylvari I ever loved. You should have been there to see us take down Scarlet. You should be here at my side for the fight against Mordremoth. I carry your journal with me, always.
See you in the mists, sweet cherry blossom.
Saddest thing any ANet employer has ever written so far was Regina Buenaobra:
Tournament Ruling – 06 February 2009
In the most recent GvG tournament, Rebel Rising [rawr] and Survival Rate [zero] tied against each other by coming to an agreement and choosing not to fight while the timer counted down. Forcing a draw at that stage of the tournament guaranteed both teams a place in the Top 16. Based on documentation and reviews of the event, we observed both guilds willfully and knowingly conspiring to intentionally draw the match in this way. It was very clear that both guilds broke tournament rules, which state that participants may not engage in any form of ladder manipulation or unsportsmanlike conduct. Both guilds agreed to tie the match, and they did so knowing that they were breaking the rules.
As a result, both guilds will have their cape trims removed. Rebel Rising [rawr] will have their permanent gold cape trim removed for a period of one month. Survival Rate [zero] will not receive their silver cape trim for placing in the Top 16. The guilds’ rankings will remain the same.
We feel that removing status (cape trims) rather than resetting their rankings sends a stronger signal to the guilds involved, while still being lenient in this first offense. Future offenses of this type may be treated in a stricter manner, including temporary or permanent bans for any players involved.
ANets reaction to a similar first offense sometime earlier with two different guilds was:
“We were officially removed from one full season of play because Vanquisher asked Black Rose Gaming to resign (which they didn’t). …..”
Oh, and yes they got punish because someone ASKED to cheat not because they ACTUALLY cheated.
