should i "come back" to the game?
Jumping puzzles are and always have been, a small part of the game. They have and are not now “the majority”.
The perception is probably down to the introduction of the zone Dry Top which did have a lot of jumping invloved
Jumping puzzles are a small aspect of the game; if you don’t want to do them, then don’t.
If you want to play, then play. There’s no sub fee, and so there’s nothing to lose by playing or by not playing.
I returned a couple of months ago, and I’ve been having a blast! My toon doesn’t look like a garbage can in SPVP anymore, and the reward tracks are great! Lots of stuff to run around and do, and the best part is…I don’t need to play it every day to feel like I’m getting my money’s worth out of it like I did with WoW.
Also, no gear treadmill anywhere near like WoW. Also, like someone said, F2P. Play when you want, how you want. Don’t like it, can always check back later.
It is, and always has been on a downward spiral. Run a way.
hey!. just want to tell some backstory before asking the question:
ive bought gw2 at around mid-end 2013 and been enjoying the game for couple of monthes and not biggie. and ive decided to leave the game for some other meat on the table (SoO wow mostly. still sorry about that till today…).
ive decided to come back to gw2 after i heard LOTS of new stuff i totally missed and a good friend of mine encouraged me to download it again, he said lots of good stuff about the game wich hyped me here and there but theres only one thing he told me that bugged me for a little: jumping quests, lots of jumping quests.
i remember even when playing ive been trying couple of jumping events and quests and such and i didnt realy find it fun, even quite hated them for a while. so i asked my friend how many jumping stuff there are already in the game: “TONS that can waste you days, litterly the majority of the game!” thats what he said. i got bit confused for a moment and decided to talk to him in another day or so deciding, so i decided to ask the community to help me about that. how many jumping quests and events are there in the game, and are they realy the majority of the game?!
any help will be appreciated
The game has jumping quests? Barely. There are jumping puzzles and those still exist, but they are neither mandatory not needed for 99.9% of the pve.
While at it, the game has no sub fee. You obviously got interested through, advertisements, lack of other good mmos, friends, position of the moon relative to earth, w/e. Why not try it out and make up your own mind?

I would just wait for HoT, unless you like doing living story stuff, and if you do, you’ll have to buy the episodes with gems.

The expansion is said to be ‘heavily vertical’, so it might feature a lot of jumping puzzles.
Hopefully they will all be optional. I like jumping puzzles, but only some of the time. I’ve always been annoyed by the ones that were used to gate some other content – even if something trivial like needing ‘just enough of whatever’ of Southshore and the final one being behind a jumping puzzle (that had a stack of Mesmers standing around helping people skip it…).
Optional jumping puzzles are great. Its a break from the usual play.
Mandatory or ‘needed for X’ ones are not great.
But either way, I suspect they will get a boost in frequency in the expansion.
JAH Bless – Equal Rights and Justice for all.
Justice And Honor – Tarnished Coast.
Yes I had overlooked in part future content that had been announced. I think it will be less optional judging by the beta and some areas will only be accessible via gliding and mushrooms.
Something for the OP to consider for the expac
Jumping puzzles largely were for achievements and treasure chests but not required. Jumping puzzles are intended to be fun and by many they are fun especially to completionists and explorers. On the upcoming expansion it seems like some areas will require things like gliding to get there but I would assume the game will remain mostly as it has been and such things will be mostly optional.
