I know we can get silver doubloon from jumping puzzle chests. But is it possible to get one from a basic chest? How is the chance compared to jumping puzzle chests?

Yes, you can get a silver doubloon from any chest, but you have to be the right level to do so. Not sure about specific odds though.

Only chests that consistently drop so-called “universal upgrades” (meaning crests/doubloons/marks/medallions/gemstones). Not all JP chests do this nor do all open-world chest. However, most drop do, usually 1-2 gear + 1-2 universals.

I can’t remember seeing a chest you can’t get upgrades for, like crests. I’ll have to pay more attention.

My L53 parked at rhendak’s tomb opens that chest daily. It’s often a single piece of gear. Occasionally, there will be a recipe or a treasure map scrap. Other open world chests have similar “junk”. Still, the type that have some sort of universal upgrade are more common.

And the Mysterious grubby package of course.

You can also do 3 pebbles(t1 gemstones) and 1 lump(t3 gemstones), the forge averages that out to tier 2. So doing 3 pebbles and 1 lump is the same as doing 4 nuggets, and gives you much better odds for doubloons than 4 pebbles and relying on the promotion from pebble to nugget.

As for farming chests, it has to be on a toon who’s at least level 21, I’m not sure of the cap off the top of my head. Used to know. I wanna say it’s 31…you can definitely still get them on a 30, though. So if you wanna play it safe, keep your doubloon farming toon(s) in the 21-30 range.
