something that’s been bugging me for awhile now. The animations on the characters are right handed(which is fine, majority of people are). But all the asymmetrical shoulder and hand pieces put the heavier/more armored side on the right arm and hand…which is the side facing away from your enemies in a combat stance. Seems backwards to layer your armor on the least exposed side, not to mention all that weight would hamper movement on your predominant hand and arm.

Maybe that’s how asymmetrical armors were designed in medieval times, but just doesn’t make sense to me.

GW1 had this problem too. Not every set of armor. There seemed (as now) to be no rhyme or reason. I tried pointing out to them that an archer needs protection/support on their bow arm (it’s closest to the enemy, and is susceptible to the occasional string burn), and that the arm pulling back the string needs to be flexible and light.

Unfortunately this is fantasy, so designers can make pretty things without being hindered by any of that pesky logic. They can’t always do that in real-life. (Just ask anyone who has ever built a house. You can’t always put things where you want just for art’s sake).

Build a man a fire, and he’ll be warm all day.
Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.

nods, understand that a bit, been a framer and poured foundations for a few years, kinda dig the analogy.
