so im farming gold for a legendary
Me personally would just buy other cool skins. Oh the other hand if you can farm for a legendary then farming for the gold to buy the other skins would be trivial.
All those weapon skins might be cool but you will feel proud if you make legendary by yourself.
Before I made my Juggernaut was also thinking of making Mjolnir because I liked it a lot, when I farmed 320 charged lodestones just decided to sell them and than made my legendary 2 weeks later.
edit. Dont regret later when you spent money on other skins while you farm your kitten out for gold.
In my opinion, I would rather craft a legendary that I really want*. I see a lot of people on these forums in Legendary threads talk about how they are crafting the absolute cheapest legendary just to say they have a legendary weapon – for accomplishment purposes more than anything else. If you’re having second thoughts, then I’d give it a real thought if whatever legendary weapon you have in mind, ask yourself if it’s a skin you really want.
Also, I was in your shoes for a long time. I told myself I didn’t want to go through the grind for a legendary, and I’d just buy some cool weapon skins. Alas, many ethereal skins, and chaos skins, and super skins later, here I am grinding out for a legendary. They got boring, and legendary skins became more enticing – so I took my few hundred gold loss on those skins and started my grind for Incinerator.
Ha, I have five legendaries, and though I love them… I also really love my super bow, super scepter, silly scimitar, delusion staff, and others. I even skin over my legendaries from time to time.
If you’re set on a legendary, buying other things will just leave you with buyer’s remorse.
Depends if you play the classes that use the legendary a lot AND if you like the animations, if not then dont bother. It seems obvious, but there are plenty of people who rush to get the “best” items in game, and then quit 2 days later because they dont actually like playing the game. I made a bifrost for my ele, which is great (and stat switching is awesome), but for the scepter/focus/dagger I stuck to bltc weapons, which are 1/20th the price and way less stressful to work towards (plus meteorlogicus is just ridiculous looking).
Also depends on your playstyle. Are you someone that can put 10 hours into a game per week for 8 months, or do you do 40 hours a week for 2 months? If its a long term goal its a lot more reasonable, the laurels from the daily log in rewards can get you a huge chunk of the t6 mats, you can do teq at reset every day for the karma (plus the pvp dailies can get you mystic clovers on certain reward tracks), and the rest is just gold for the precursor and the other junk. If you do it all in 2 months its doable, but again, if farming champs 8 hours a day gets you so irritated you quit the game a week later, it kind of defeats the point.
That or just get a part time job. $10 is like 80 gold, so for the most expensive legendary thats like 4 weeks of 12 hours per week, which even a 16 year old can pull off. People say that defeats the point, which is kind of true, but once you equip it there is zero difference a legendary you bought with gems and one that you got by farming champs hitting 111111111.

While I certainly respect others’ views on this, I’m one of those that is immune to whatever the allure of the existing legendaries happens to be.
To wit, I think almost all of them are hideous, though when I saw the ascended weapons, I thought some of those were pretty and went ahead to do the things required to make a few for myself.
For you, op, think carefully about what you’ll be happy with. I know for a fact that I’ll never regret making no move toward any legendary and selling off precursors in the odd occasion I get one. Some like the prestige, whereas all the prestige I care for doesn’t exist in any game to have or to find.
Nobody is wrong, but many are very different in terms of our motivations. Just take done time to very specifically figure out what you want, then prioritize your means of getting the things you want in an order you find acceptable.
Go for the legendary first, then you can buy the other skins gradually as something else to work towards post-legendary. It will also be nicer as they are much cheaper and provide nicer milestones once you get the big legendary out the way
