Q:
statement about Multiloot in reddit
A:
I don’t really see why you think the statement doesn’t make any sense. It’s clear to me.
It’s not an exploit, but it is reminscent of an exploit and it has started to affect the in game economy, particularly the price of ectos, so they’re going to do something about it at some point, when they get to it.
What’s not to understand?
I believe it’s been stated before that they don’t consider it an exploit. This states that the see it as exploit-like, which is understandable. A lot of people see it that way.
This is just telling us they are going to fix it. So do your farming now, cause it’s going away.
If you do not multiloot you might also want to invest in ectoplasm. People are starting to hoard already (supply dropped from 900K to 700K) and the price has jumped from 28 to 34 silver.
Ecto was 50 silver before multiloot.
(disclaimer, I am sitting on 100+ massive globs of ectoplasm)
Supply also dropped because of the aura.

I want to say I have 750 ecto currently. All of which are earmarked for things I’m currently working on, and I’m still like 600 short. So I’ll be happily farming myself into a stupor this holiday weekend.
I agree that wasn’t a good way to explain it (but then it is a reddit post rather than an official announcement) but I think part of the problem might be a language issue, because English is a weird language.
To me, as a native English speaker ‘exploity’ makes perfect sense even though it’s not a real word and I don’t think it’s even a proper suffix. It’s saying it’s not actually an exploit, but it works in a similar way. Just like if you said something tastes ‘chocolatey’ you’re not saying it IS chocolate, just that it tastes LIKE chocolate.
Multiloot isn’t an exploit – it’s not doing anything you shouldn’t be able to do (like planting siege off the edge of the WvW map) or using mechanics in ways they were never intended (like avoiding standing on the spot that triggers a boss fight so you can skip the boss) but it has the same effect as an exploit.
Like when people used to create new characters, rush through the first story chapter to get a black lion key and then delete them, make a new one and start over. They weren’t doing anything Anet hadn’t intended you to be able to do, they were just making use of it in a way that Anet hadn’t expected. But the end result was deemed to be bad for the game and so it was stopped.
Also the fair warning is them telling us ahead of time that they are going to stop it. They are completely within their rights (according to the User Agreement we all accepted) to change any part of the game at any time without telling us at all. And with real exploits that’s exactly what they’ve done. Sometimes it’s not even in the patch notes because they don’t want to call attention to it and risk people getting ideas for similar exploits elsewhere.
Finally I doubt they’re ever going to give an exact definition of an exploit because the variety of possible exploits is huge and extremely difficult to predict (if they could predict what players would exploit they’d change it before it was even released). If they try to narrow it down to a specific definition they’re bound to miss something, or word it in a way that means depending on how you interpret it certain exploits are allowed and then all the players profiting from those exploits will use the definition to insist that they are doing nothing wrong and must be allowed to continue.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
In a time where the youngsters are making up words for every other actual word and where some of these made up words are being added to the OED forcing the adults to learn this new language…are we really questioning a Y on the end of a word that we all know the definition of?
[HaHa] Hazardous Hallucination
For the record, all words are made up…
Adding y to nouns to make them adjectives is part of the English language. Although “hope”, “change”, and “exploit” are more recent examples of this and may not be actual words. IANAET.
I’ve no problem with “exploity”. Not a real word but it has a clear meaning.
Just don’t hold you breath for a spectacular recovery of ecto prices any time soon. The ML thing has been going forever yet ectos are still well in demand and there will be millions of them sitting in banks. It may never actually “recover”.
On a related note, it may well be a good time to sell off your leather before they introduce a reliable way to farm it.
They don’t consider it an exploit, as they’ve not punished anyone for doing it.
But they might consider it bad/faulty design and are changing it as a result.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Probably a stupid question: but what is multi-looting?

In the topic of this thread, it’s when players hop between completed instances of AB in order to loot the large chests that contain a guaranteed rare. Players can earn dozens of rares this way which them salvage into ectos.
Another way to think of someone adding a “-y” at the end would be to also think of it as being a “-ish” which is probably more commonly used.

Ah, thank you.
I feel really sad that the super rich lost some gold on their massive ecto investments,
but, when they “do something” I hope it is to expand multi-looting across the game.
It creates a strong motivation to group and provides decent loot for motivating guilds to work together as a guild.
Thanks for sharing the info here, where it should have been posted.
