Guild Wars 2

I only run a small guild of 70 or so and in the last month or 2 i’ve convinced at least a dozen guildies to buy HoT. these were all f2p and now they’re HoT owners. Not only that, but most of them have purchased the Ultimate Edition too. Even just today, i convinced yet another f2p gulidie to buy it. “Just for gliding alone, it’s worth it”, was my sales pitch and within literally 10 min, they whispered me and said they bought it.

In any other game i’d be showered with gifts, but not here. I’m not suggesting this just so i can be rewarded, but i think it would be nice and good for the game in the long run as it would give an incentive for people to bring in friends, co-workers etc.

If you want showered in gifts, go to those "other" games. Honestly your reward is more guildies that can do content with you, as well as more money for ane to use in development.

Problem with this I think is it take some kind of proof like code to show who get person to buy game or HoT. Then with this people probably spam in place like map chat look for group and forum. Guild spam in chat bad enough. I think I agree with other person. Reward of get friend to buy game or HoT is have that friend to play game with.

Seems fair to add this system later on. The referral reward does not even have to be significant, either. Toss in a Black Lion Chest Key and call it a day. Companies enjoy and benefit from referrals, anyway. Might as well toss in a minor treat for those that do it.

As to the topic at hand. I do kind of agree with mentioned guy above ironically, but I certainly will not tell you to go and play another game. Because besides it sounding rude it kind of sounds elitist to me or some such, maybe the word I am looking for is toxic, I don’t no but you get the idea negative all the same.

So yes, enjoy all the time and fun you can spend with your guildies in the HOT content/maps. Also you now have a lot more people to help and help you with any alts you take through who need hero points and such!

The way i’ve seen it work in other games, they advertise it on their lading screen or log in Ui and their website etc, where they offer for eg: a nice steed or w/ever, to refer a friend. The person referring has to go to their website and fill in some kind of form, stating who the friend is they’re referring and if that friend ends up getting and registering the game, the person who referred him/her gets the offered reward.

As i stated in my original post, its not so much about me personally getting the reward for what i’ve done, but rather gw2 players in general who may have friends that are on the fence about the game. Rewards may incentivize them to encourage those friends to get the game and hence bring more new players in. After all, who doesn’t like getting gifts/rewards? And imo, it’s a cheap way of promoting the game. It’s not like Anet would be paying them real money, just some pixel rewards. For eg: they could offer a choice of a nice glider skin, or an outfit or like some others suggested above, some black lion keys, even minis etc. Anyway, it was a well intentioned idea but i guess not everyone is able to see as such.

I see this as a replacement of the one time guild influence tome you got with the ultimate purchase of the first release of gw2.

I think something small like a back skin, special guild hall decoration, or title would be kind of nice.

In the event that a lot of people refer the same friend, maybe give the person who buys the game the option to select who referred them and the reward gets mailed in game, or make it part of the purchase screen if the game is purchased from the official store.

Well I only meant if your worried about recruitment bonuses from other games go play those games. This system would only work if installed at launch. When GW2 was a baby after release there was a refer a friend where 5 friends could play for free. Obviously they didn’t feel it was worth while to continue this after one try.

Now they could never implement a system like this with out screwing everyone over who referred someone in the past with out a logistical nightmare. It just doesn’t make since to ask for a feature that needs to be implemented at launch of the xpac this late out because you want extra toys or some such pat on the back.

You are suggesting this just so you can be rewarded.

That is the entire premise of this thread.

GW2 doesn’t need that crap.

Refer a friend reward: a friend to play gw2 with.

Why do you feel like you need to be bribed before you will recommend this game to other people? Is it not good enough to recommend on its own?
