I strongly disagree with changing this. The Fiery Dragon Sword has been on fire while stowed since launch, and if you like it that way, it seems pretty lame to have it changed on you.
I might still be bitter about them changing my Elementalist animations. Fire Pin =/= Fireball

All my human characters that use a sword have the dragons breath sword. I love it the way it is. I loved it in GW1. There is no need to change it. Don’t fix what’s not broken.

I would much prefer it if the flames disappeared when it was stowed. I use the fiery dragon sword a lot on low level characters because it’s free to apply, but I could never stick with it because sooner or later I get sick of the effect being on constantly.
It wasn’t really an issue in GW1 because you didn’t see it in towns, so you got breaks from it.
Having said that I understand that other people like it as it is, and there are less overwhelming swords I can use, so I don’t think it’s worth changing it.

What about adding a second variant of the swords? Then there can be a variant that stays lit and one that goes out when sheathed.
That would be a good compromise for the ice one.
The problem with the fire one is it’s one of the Hall of Monuments skins, which are only available to people who played GW1. I suspect a lot of people would be angry if an identical skin was made available elsewhere. (Especially if it had “extra” effects, which I can guarantee is how this would be described.)
Although the obvious solution there is to add the second version to the Hall, for the same number of points and just give it a clear description so players can see which they’re choosing. (And if you do get them mixed up it’s free to change it.)
