i was helping a player out in game and sent them about 40g, only i must have typoed it and they did not get it the first time.

it would be optimal if the right click player name to send mail actually worked properly to avoid the human error factor entirely but failing that it would be nice if there was a little check like are you sure you typed in the name properly?

never type in the adress manually? I always try to make a party and use send mail form the party options (right click on name/portrait) I never have problems.
Sometimes nearly double names exist, sometimes I’m just to tired to read it correct or type it correct…

i had just assumed since the right click on name in chat and send mail didnt work (just brought up an empty mail interface) that none of those other ways would either

This was done with to prevent selling to the wrong player (map chat moving to fast) and to try to prevent gold sellers spamming mass in game mails. The right click>send mail will only work for people in your party, guild, or friends list. If you need to mail someone, add friend>send mail>remove friend. Yes, it’s extra steps but it’s what we have.

well in that case it would really be better if they removed that functionality from the chat menu so that you don’t end up trying to do something that you are not intended to be able to do

You can always add the people you want to mail to to your friends, and in the friends menu you’ll have the option to send a mail to the account directly.

I never type in the name. It autocorrects while typing. It choses people with similar names or whose names start out the same. Much safer to friend the person then send to them from the friend list.

I always type in the name. Well, the first couple of letters, or so…it then auto-corrects to those in my friend’s list, Guild, party, etc.

As far as I know, no mail has been sent to the wrong player. At least, no one has informed me of such an occurrence.

I’ve had it choose people I don’t know while typing. I’ll start typing and it leaps in with some random name that starts with the letters I’ve typed so far.

Edit: one possibility is it’s choosing a name from my follower list.
