Hi there,

With the new patch, specializations made burst even more powerful than it was.

To be clear, condi was also highly buff. This buff turned condi into another way to burst down your foe. So this is not only about zerkers!

After dealing with it in both PvP and WvW, something appeared me unbalanced. Burst itself is not OP you just need to avoid it (evade with dodge or spell, invulnerability… or cure for “condi burst”).

But there is one kind of burst you just can not escape at least without running away ( which i refuse to consider real solution) if you can to get ooc and this is clearly not what you want to get as only solution in a pvp game. I’m talking about burst which comes out of stealth.

Once again, i will make things clear I am not talking about lowering DPS from these classes. Damages from a backstab you take is ok considering this is a squishy assassin-like class. But you should still get a way to prevent it.

Let’s take the backstab example (but this would also apply to any other class in stealth), currently if you blind the thief before he goes in stealth or get an aegis to prevent the backstab (pure logic), the thief will try a first miss/blocked backstab (logic again) but he won’t be revealed (this is not logical for both balance and RP) so he can backstab you again and get the burst anyway.

That’s why i think being blocked or missing your hit should reveal yourself. This would make this game way more interesting especially for roaming and pvp.

Once again I am not crying for a big nerf because i got killed by thieves or mesmers again and again (well yes i was ^^ but still beat a few in return) so if trolls would keep quiet that topic would be way more constructive.

Ps : For me even evaded should reveal, if you don’t have the minimum skill to wait that someone who is not even seeing you to end his roll you should not get a second chance to burst him. But i know that last point is my pure and subjective opinion (while I consider my main point way more objective).

Please feel free to give your opinion about that or use the +1 if you support the idea.
In the hope that one dev will read my post and considers this idea.

One big issue with block = reveal… Guardian Aegis. They would be hugely OP here.

Well I disagree, you can pop out the aegis before going stealth, this would just need a few more setup which wouldn’t be a bad idea.

And this is not OP this is a counter to it (which as i explained could be countered too) just as there should be to any playstyle.

Most classes are not given a chance to retry if they miss, and you should reward active defense. So if the thief misses the backstab because he was too far, then don’t reveal. But if he misses because of a blind/aegis, it is HIS fault (he can see that he has a blind or the enemy has a block) and should be revealed for that.
You should allow and value counterplay.

Players already get the chance to prevent the thief from stealthing in the first place (other than vs. blinding powder). Failing that you have ways of mitigating or punishing the stealth attack. You’re asking for an additional super ezmode counter. Doesn’t seem very fair or balanced to me.
