Right now we can choose to set either server time clock or local time clock under minimap, (or no clock).

It would be nice to have easy access to both. However, having 2 clocks there might be a bit over kill so hence my sugestion :

Show server time when you mouse over the clock that shows local time, just like a tool tip saying “current server time” + servertime

Ofcourse when someone shows the server time by default the tooltip would show the local time.

Why this request?
Right now when we organize ingame events a lot of our guild members are always getting confused about the time of the event We already include next to GMT time, the UK time (in summer) and Cet time, since most of our members are in these 2 time zones) but still we see a lot of questions about when the event starts.

If everyone would have easy access to the server time, then we could just announce events in server time and everyone can easily mouse over the clock on mini map to see when the event will be.

I know there are also websites online to look up times but this is more easy. Also many do not by default show server time since they like to keep track of local time ingame.

With this suggestion you have easy access to both without adding more UI elements that are permanently on screen.

note I posted this here since we no longer have a suggestions subforum.

If you like the suggestion or perhaps have a better one please leave a reaction

I like the idea. More extensive but on-demand information can never be bad.

Or run the game windowed and have the clock in game server time and your taskbar below local time.

You’re not taking the easy ways, are you?

You can have server time in in full screen or windowed – just click the box in options – done. Easy access, it is always on.

I know that, but if you do that, you do not have local time anymore. Many of us like to have local time visible so you can keep track local time easily. Server is in most cases not used at the moment since:

A local time is the default setting
B Server time is not used a lot right now (at least among our members)

If the game settings would change to include this popup feature, you can easily tell in guild chat/message of the day

“guild missions are sunday at 18.00 servertime. mouse over the clock to see server time so you can keep track of when the event starts”

With this feature it does not even matter too much at which timezone the server time is running since you will use it in a relative way.

I think many guilds and event organizers would have a much more easy task if this could be included.

Again this is not an ingame solution and needs action from the end users.
Problem is not everyone knows this/ has this, still has to play windowed or alt tab to see it.

The power of the proposed idea is that it would be the same for everyone playing gw2 so if anyone ever asks about an ingame event time again, you can just mention the server time and everyone can see when it takes place.

Right now i usually respond with “the event will be in X hours from now” which works but does not make it easy to announce events on message of the day or events that are on later days.

Right now you can also do that but the next question you get is “what is server time”
with my suggestion you can just say “the event is on X:X servertime, mouse over clock to see server time” and everyone can just do that, a lot of time issues solved with one simple solution.

Since the server time option is already in the game, it should not be to much work to implement the suggestion or something that has a similar result:

An easy referable place in the UI were servertime is show/can be shown by default.
