[suggestion] include Islamic celebrations
There’s Christian celebrations? I thought Wintersday was the event to determine if Grenth or Dwayna would win and either extend winter or have spring come early. I don’t recall a thanksgiving celebration on Guild Wars 2.
ANet may give it to you.

Halloweeen is hardly a ‘Christian’ celebration and Thanksgiving isn’t Christian, it’s largely an American tradition derived from older European events which were unrelated to any real Christian dogam .. clearly GW isn’t a ‘Christian’ game as the religions in it would be called ‘Pagan’ by Christians.
This is just a silly attempt to introduce Political Correctness where it has no place.
After a moments reflection, I remember the OP. He had a thread about how the Anniversary outfit promoted Christianity and how much it offended him.
One of his quotes from that thread: (can’t link it, the thread was closed by a moderator. But you can check his posting history).
Yes , with all the crosses on it I was like wow wtf ?
I thought this game had nothing to do with real life religions , a clown outfit or anything that represent the game would’ve been good and fun .
I’m not a Christian and I’m really offended by this Anet . Please do something about it , can’t I enjoy a new free outfit without a religious reference ???
He’s gone from saying he thought the game had nothing to do with real life religion to wanting to make sure it did. Lol.
ANet may give it to you.
Dragon ball/bash has no ties to anything.
I’m not agreeing with OP here, but the Lunar Festival is based on the Chinese New Year.
This game should respect everyone’s belief like we do respect and celebrate every event out there .
I’m an atheist so respect my beliefs and do one with threads like this, ta!
dragons, I sometimes wonder if we’ll ever find a way to save us from ourselves.”
Why don’t we just ignore Islam and keep celebrating events related to the game?
Well I guess there’s some form of racism here because nothing like this was said when there was winters day and Halloween and some other events. Yet people are complaining when there is Chinese new year reference. I hear ppl in divinity reach yelling USA all day too. Just literally login to yell USA like a kkk

This game in no way caters to any particular set of beliefs or any particular (real life) cultural identity. Adding in such a thing, you bring an unwanted, and potentially harmful aspect into the game. No.
RoseofGilead: While the Lunar festival may mirror, or have elements of Chinese culture, the in-game origin is Canthan.

In my opinion: Fantasy cultures that have a familiarity with real life cultures add to the “believability factor”. Which does more to help immersion than anything else. It makes the player feel like they know and understand the people, and can relate more to them.

Thanksgiving is not a Christian celebration, it’s a U.S. celebration imbedded in the culture. The early European settlers in this land were so thankful to have survived a year that they threw a party and this party has come down through the years since then. There is absolutely nothing in it that says it one religion or another. Any American of any religion, or none, can celebrate Thanksgiving and give thanks to their own God as they please. Or just watch TV, whichever comes first.
ANet may give it to you.
Discussions on religion aren’t allowed according to the Forum code of conduct as far as I’m aware, so this thread will be locked.
GW2’s existing holidays aren’t based around religious events. Though their real world counterparts may have religious connotations to some people, the events by and large are celebrated by people in Western cultures regardless of religion or lack-thereof.
It’s also worth pointing out that thanskgiving isn’t in game and is a specifically US holiday… It’s quite irrelevant to the discussion.

Yes, I’m very aware of that. Cantha and their Dragon Festival, while obviously based around various Asian cultural things, had their own flair about them. GW1 has Canthan New Year, which also draws from Chinese New Year. And the GW2 Lunar New Year is most definitely based on Chinese New Year.

I’m American but unlike you many haters on this thread , I do understand that I’m sharing this earth with people that has different beliefs and cultures . The world does not revolve around you my friend .
Guild Wars has no religious celebrations, why should they start now?
Wintersday, Halloween, Canthan New Year, Dragon Festival, April Fools, none of them have anything to do with religion.
They are just celebrations that often tie into holidays so players have something to do on their time off.
I think people just chose to be emo about random stuff
Quoting for relevance.

Which is my second point about fanasty/real life cultures. It adds that additional element of immersion.
Robert Jordan did an amazing job of this in The Wheel of Time series.

No. We come to play a game to escape from the stupidity and political correctness of real life.
It’s bad enough sexuality agendas are being pushed in the game.

It was pointing out that Thanksgiving is NOT a Christian celebration, which is something you very obviously didn’t know if you included it in your list of Christian celebrations. It also said that it was celebrated by people of all religions, who live in America.

op don’t you have a tree that needs your love and hugs somewhere? Good grief GW is not a place for any religion. And it doesn’t revolve around you and your beliefs either. But your liberal brain can’t see the double standard you have. First as mentioned you hate religion now you don’t. So which is it?

Victim mentally complex.
If you don’t 100% support their beliefs and agree with every thing they say. You’re a bigot and a hater.
Some thing Guild Wars 2 should distance itself from and have no part in.

GW has nothing to do with real world religion.
Hope the acc gets locked for trying to bring real world religion into a computer game where religion has nothing to seek, all players are equal behind their pcs.
the developing company shall not tolerate attempts to get their product being used for religious influence.

disclaimer Cantha is based on all asian cultures, not just chinese.

Yep. An “if you’re not for me, you’re against me” mentality. He doesn’t even know the game’s lore very well or he would know that there are no Christian celebrations in it. Each celebration is tied to the lore and the gods that are in this game. The things that are similar, such as the Wintersday tree, are actually pagan based in our world and was co-oped by Christianity as it moved into pagan lands.
ANet may give it to you.
GET OUT!
Dragon ball/bash has no ties to anything. Thanksgiving is not Christian. Wintersday is not real, if they had the courage to force real life parralels(but they do not because of your kind) they would name it Christmas, which, in its origin is pagan.
DO NOT bring your westerner political correctness here. It is already present and although I do not agree with it at all, at least it was fairly included. Keep you destructive narrative out of the game!
THIS IS NOT a platform to promote your vile agenda. It is a product for entertainment and Anet should not be pushed into the corners because of the virus of political correctness.
JUST.GET.OUT.
Couldn’t have said it in any better way.
So quoted for truth.
So I really don’t understand why would you not include Islamic events . This game should respect everyone’s belief like we do respect and celebrate every event out there .
LOOL where you respect? you just kill people who don’t believe in islam, and so on so please stop.
You should don’t ask nothing, and you should thanks because you can play the game.
I think you are describing the Octovine westgate event …
