to people with most classes at level 80, which one is the most fun and most boring to you? I have 2 classes at 80 and want another, and all classes are boring to me until I get used to them so I want your opinions first

D/D Elementalist takes no skill but is good at everything in the game.
Mesmer is unfun to play against and does everything better than thieves.
Hoping those two get gutted with nerfs

I been playing the same two classes since beta, but dude- I like tough cc heavy classes for pvp. What you like in a class and what you like to do in the game will decide your preference.

For example, I deleted my lvl80 mesmer a few weeks back because I had no fun with the class. But, I have a pal who has mained mesmer since launch and even leveled two of them. Different strokes, different folks.

I’m playing mostly PvE and some sPvP. I find engineer to be the most fun and guardian to be the most efficient. I was maining mesmer originally but this profession is subpar in everything to guardian which makes me wonder why to almost exact profession exist where one is definately just a poor brother of another.

It is extremely personal. I dislike my warrior. It is just boring to play.
My mesmer is fun for jumping puzzles
My ele is fun for WvW zerking
My guardian is fun for dungeons
My ranger is fun for exploring
My thief is fun for daily’s
My engineer is fun for hanging out and GM’s
My necromancer is fun for……hmmmmm…..hmmmmm….I give up

This is just my personal opinion. You really have to find out yourself. But as you got 2 level 80’s, you are not limited in doing content right now. I recommend to do several, or even all. If you get bored, don’t delete, but just switch. when you come back it will be refreshing again.

That depends on you more than it does the class.

Do you want something that can remain highly engaging all the time? Play an elementalist or engineer. Would you rather just focus on killing stuff, using your utilities and class mechanic here and there to survive rather than have to wring efficiency out of every little thing you do? Then try something like a warrior or ranger. IME most of the others exist somewhere in between those things. Guardians are like warriors except with less HP and more active defences. Thieves have relatively simple skills but require hyperactive and intelligent movement. It goes on like that.

Personally, I most enjoy my thief and guardian. With them I need to pay attention enough not to get bored, but I don’t have to press such an alarming number of buttons as I do on elementalist or engineer, nor remember exactly what so many different skills actually do in the first place.

Aesthetic is probably the most important factor for fun. So it really depends on your personal favourite aethetic.

However ele and engi can be fun due to the technical nature of the classes. Mesmer can be fun because of the utility and uniqueness. Warrior can be fun because of its brute force feel and high mobility. Then you can also get fun out of simply being useful. I dont really like the thief combat feel or aesthetic but i enjoy playing thief in dungeons because of the stealth utility and big hits. And ele is just flat out the best class which can be fun in its own way.

My personal favourite aesthetic is necro. But i get frustrated playing it because its so weak and useless. I also enjoy the mesmer for the same reason. But its frustrating to play solo.

Most fun overall is Mesmer. I like ‘em so much that I made two. Fun to play, cool attack animations, lots of utility and decent damage overall. a ’jack of all trades, master of none’ kind of class imo.

Most boring is Engineer. Overly complex, and none of the kits or weapons seem to pack much of a punch outside of PvP.

It really depends on you. But you probably want some personal opinions so here’s mine:

Mesmer, Engi, and Ele are the most fun because you can combine your skills in creative ways. Guardian, Warrior, and Thief are objectively good but not very entertaining to play. (Thief especially, even PvP is just spamming the same few skills over and over).

Ranger is kind of boring, and no comment on Necro (I don’t have it at lv 80)

  • Ranger: Is my main, and as a mainly PvE player I use him in open world and dungeons, I play most of the times as pure melee and it is really fun, I don’t really like to play ranger in PvP, but I had tons of fun as a trapper.
  • Guardian: My 2nd favorite class, it is tied with engineer as my main PvP class.
  • Engineer: As I said above it is tied as main PvP class, also it is my main WvW class, you can never be bored as an engineer.
  • Necro: I like it in every mode of the game (except dungeons) it is my 2nd tier class in WvW and PvP, and in PvE with a hybrid build it is more satisfying than you expect.
  • Warrior: It is strong, you can’t go wrong with it, but kinda dull gameplay. In PvP I go as s/s + lb cond build and I usually I go really well.
  • Thief: Since my ping is around 200ms I have a lot of trouble player it in PvP properly, so when I do I play a p/p build. In PvE I go as s/p + p/p the damage is awesome and the mobility is also nice, I enjoyed to play as one.
  • Mesmer: Leveling it wasn’t the most fun I had, I enjoy to play a phantom build in both PvE and PvP.
  • Elementalist: The class I enjoyed the least while leveling. It is quite good in PvP but I personally don’t have the coordination to do the “sick combos” to be actually effective.

I’d probably suggest playing what you think looks coolest/most interesting from the way it looks. It’s pretty strange to say, but the mechanics of the game are pretty close to the aesthetics that represent them.

I personally think that my thief is the most fun of all of my professions, and note-worthy advice with the thief is to always keep pushing to do different from the meta, because the meta is boring. I don’t think there’s anything more thrilling than diving into a blob head-first as a glass cannon and escaping at just the perfect time to make your foes blow important cooldowns on thin air

So just follow with what interests you.

Each to their own. Everyone will have different opinions about it but here’s mine:

  • Thief - A fun mobile class; I really like being able to jump everywhere using S/D. Playing as a condi thief is also funny. I may not be pro and I actually consider myself below average at this class but it’s one I enjoy. Definitely looking forward to any buffs with the HoT Xpac.
  • Mesmer - Similar to thief but it has certain uses. I made a utility/glamour mesmer for running in zergs and a lot of players appreciate the quick ports. I use my original mes for dungeons.. the only thing I dislike when playing mesmer is the known feeling a thief can and most likely will focus you due to squishiness. I can’t wait to play Chronomancer though.. it deems very confusing at first but I’m sure it’ll be fab.
  • Ranger - Very easy straight forward class for me to play. I use one in PvP. I am grateful ANet implemented a buff on them. Ranger was my first ever class. I still think a few of their utility skills could use some work; preferably the shouts but that’s just me.
  • Engineer - First class to do map completion on and it was awesome. I love how this class can be a jack of all trades but I in general simply suck at it when it comes to WvW or PvP. I really want to get good at engi but there’s just so much clicking and the grenades are slow & hard to land. I also never understood why rifle range is less than grenade range. I am glad ANet will be reducing grenade range soon, correct me if I’m wrong on that one.
  • Warrior - I think I’m stuck in the ‘this class should only be played with melee weapons’ because I always pick up a hammer/GS or sword/WH/Shield. It’s sad I have multiple warriors but don’t know how to play them properly.. maybe I am playing them right but I’m always being kited, ranged from afar or immobilized/CC’d when my stability runs out. I love this class though. It’s also great for tanking. I even made a weird build primarily consisting of the longest time of immobilize duration.. Throw Bolas with 7-8 & 1/2 seconds? Another 8 secs immob from Lvl 3 F1 sword skill? Traited cripple = more immob? RIP whoever can’t cleanse immob.
  • Guardian - As much as I like this class I feel warrior does what I want better. It was good fun doing dungeons as guardian but it’s held back by the only ranged wep being Scepter, their low health pool unless traited and the pinnacle of annoying – no proper movement speed. I played medi guard and yes it’s interesting but like before.. no stability or I’m always kited.
  • Elementalist - This is a class I literally cannot understand and mostly never will. I legit made an ele and levelled him via tombs to 80. No proper gameplay. Idk what I was thinking. There is just so much clicking and swapping attunements; I hate making mistakes too so this class sits on the shelf for me gathering dust until I “learn to play”. Haha.
  • Necromancer - Very similar to ele. Another class I levelled via tombs to 80 with zero proper gameplay. I’ve given condi and power necro a chance. Maybe I just suck. I really hate little to no stability on this class like warriors can dish out so easily. It’s a different story in PvP though – I am having somewhat fun playing power necro. I tried minion master too and it can be humorous. I hope I can get better at playing necro, especially with the HoT Xpac coming soon.

Leveling a class to 80 is no longer fun for me after the April 2014 trait change, which locks all traits away behind completing tiresome things. I level through daily logins now. If you can wait, wait for HOT to come up with the new trait system. If you must need someone to tell you what to level, go level a Ranger. Best fun I had leveling (pre-April2014).

Current 80s: Ranger, Mesmer, Guardian, Elementalist, Revenant, Necromancer.

My opinion:

  • Thief – Is the most fun ive had, although few abilities you actually use, its way more intense than others. Keeping me on my toes most out of all the professions.

*Engineer – They are really fun for their tricks, but they are kitten clunky and tiresome in the long run.

*Elementalist – Its ONLY about playing the piano while moving. Once you can play the piano, there is no more a challenge outside of 1vX.

*Mesmer – Are incredibly fun, but their OOC mobility is terrible unless you use traveler runes/cantaur runes. Incredibly fun vs “avrage” players 1vX, but a single good player managing to stick on to you, dodge the right shatter will result in death.

*Necromancer – Only fun for big numbers and a their dark theme. Not including dungeons.

*Everything else – Feels too straight forward/easy to play. Dont have to keep on my toes, simple abilities. Just too straight forward.
