Its frustrating that I as a player working,fighting and sometimes dieing to get to a WP,POI or SP and others are cheating to get there. On many occassions have seen other players been teleporting to a poi without even trying to get there then teleporting out right away before being attacked from mobs in areas. Trying to get the players names are next to impossible to write down; they’re there one moment then there not for to report them. Im not sure Anet is aware of this problem: its getting me angry to see lazy players who likes to cheat,exploit and hack there way through a game cause they find a game to hard to play like normal players.

just out of curiosity; what makes you think they don’t already have the waypoint and just ported there like anyone else might that already has the waypoint?

They are aware of it, do your best to report them.

Wait, explain “teleporting.” If you’re talking about using a profession ability (like thief’s Shadowstep/Shadow Return) I don’t see that as cheating, simply utilizing game mechanics. Is there another way to teleport, like a hack?

It’s a third-party program that people are getting from a certain site that allows them to teleport anywhere in the world. They use coordinates (X,Y,Z) to pinpoint locations and the program pops them to it. Then they just put in another one and zip right off to the next location. It is literally teleporting them around.

Basically they put in the coordinates for a node, say a rich orichalcum ore, and they appear on top of it. Then mine it, and teleport to the next one. It’s a new way of getting around and farming by using “hacks”.

I saw one today for the 2nd time- they are too fast to report or screenshot- Anet is aware of it however.
It is impossible to report them, what freaked me out is that it had an original character name

Yeah they’re very difficult to report, they appear to be the new bots of GW2 which are at least less of an eyesore than the packs of ranger clones running around firing in unison, but still annoying none the less and undoubtedly flooding the TP with the excess resources they produce.

New players will figure it out as they level in the PVE zones. Bots exits. In massive numbers. Talking about botting on the forums is a no-no. Because there are no discussions, there are no bots. Botting problem solved.

I thought this issue was in the minds and perception, and quite frankly the low end computers other were using, i stand corrected.

I was at southsun cove underwater, doing a second map clear when i found a gaggle of bots (5) stacked on one another using the underwater world for cover now apparently, i reported them and then saw something that made my jaw drop, they cleared the area of fish and mobs and then actually teleported over a huge distance to another area, still underwater and began farming/grinding that area.

i watched for about 15 minutes and they teleported long and short distances as a group, in some cases one would not teleport and would have to rejoin the group. It was not speed, not WP use, pure teleportation, i had to shake my head at this.

And yet a friend of mine was simply shooting at a champion in an open pve area that everyone in the area was shooting at, and their automated system considered that champion as being in an exploitable position and he and others there get perma banned. Their current system sends a very backwards message really, as another friend buys gold from gold sellers and WvWvW has entire guilds pulling this stuff going from server to server without a care.

Not that I encourage any such behavior, nonetheless an automated one without the player’s input.

But if one resorts to cheating rather than playing the game for what it is, you must ask yourself “why would he do that?” and I think we know the answer.
Would you cheat in single player game?

People cheat in single-player games all the time, for convenience, ‘glory’ or whatever justification or reason comes to mind. I might even have played with the cheat codes for Warcraft after beating it legitimately. Hell, people cheated solitaire back before we had computer games.

Though I do think you’re correct in surmising that a lot of the botting in this game is tied to profit-motive.

but im not gonna cheat in an online game where my reputation(and account) is at stake.

Snap a screenshot, by default it should be set to show player names. Then you can get the name off of the screenshot and report them.
