Guild Wars 2

It burst out the Guildwars 2 theme. Concept art flashed through behind the huge logo.

It was actually a great welcome. I think there should be an option to toggle the old Login-Screen on or off.

There was a way to do it with a Command Line Argument for awhile. But one of the updates to the client disabled it.

+1 to the old login screen. it gave me goosebumps, unlike the current news feed rubbish they have which i don’t look at because i want to get into the game so bad!

give us the OPTION! to have it.

When the beta weekends weren’t running, I would have it open and watch it, murmuring, “Soon.” to myself.

Yeah I’d rather the Old log in screen. I completely blank the current one. I too had goosebumps from it. For me it’s what set GW2 apart from the rest. The current launcher just looks like every other MMO launcher out there.

+1 the older login screen was gorgeous. Adding login to the launcher achieves next to nothing.

But how will you then be able to know there is a PvP tournament going on you are surely interested in every time you log in? Or read about the new offers in the Gem Store?

Ezpz, just look at GW1 log in screen. It’s np to add a news column on the side etc.

It would be cool if we had paper-boys running around selling news-fliers, or if there where posters in cities and villages that you could read

Ooh I have almost forgot that old login-screen that gave me the feeling : This is the best! I miss that old screen and that little funny code thingy to show if you put in the wrong password

It would be nice if the current launcher was re-skinned to look like the old login screen, without the chroma hash. Plenty of space to add in news items as well.

Everyone saying how good the old login screen was likely doesn’t remember the one problem with it – for some reason it was a resource hog. More resource-heavy than a 3-way full zerg SM WvW fight is. Yeah, it looked better – but at least the new one does not cause my comp to go into overdrive.

What i remember, is that it worked just fine for me.

It was also not very secure i think.

Well, if there were issues with it, I’m sure a lot of people would be very pleased if Anet could work on them and make the old login screen an option again. One can hope, at least…

Log in screens are also a huge nostalgia drive. I know it has been the main one for me and my old mates in certain games.

Those would look good for the next 4 expansions.

Each one can lead to the color theme change across the game.

Agreed. technically gw2 doesn’t even have a login screen. widget maybe? either way i hate the current.

I too miss the old log in screen. I remember waiting for the BW1 trouble to pass so I could get into the game for the first time and that loading screen was really cool.

Only because of the chroma hash, and only visible if a streamer decides to login to the game while streaming. Chroma hash + length of password visible from the stream makes it fairly easy to crack the password.

The old login screen made me buy the game. It was the begin and end content that I loved! Then they took it away and the begin and end content went away

They surely have it hidden away someplace, so it shouldn’t be difficult to add the option for those that want it.

It was well made. Let us have it again! =)
