the portal for beta
Guildwars 2, by Hypenet, you should know that by now ;p
Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
This is a joke right. All I’m hearing is I didn’t get what I want so I’m gonna whine and complain please.
Digital Sacrifice Guild
Of course they hype their product – as they should! Its a business!
Sorry that you’re unable to get a drop for the beta. RNG gets most of us – no matter how entitled we feel we are.
“I spent the last 3 days trying to get something. Since I didn’t get it, it must mean it sucks.”
LikwidX – Elementalist – Eternal Overwatch – Darkhaven
it not a joke cause if you calulate the time spent in sliver waste farming cause i am not the only one wife farming it with me thats 96 hours of farming hte silver wast and i hit every defense event cause i farmed events way before this portal junk and know how to get to the fort before the defense even starts thats 96 hours or more between 2 accounts and the drop rate sucks

Some people get the stuff they want in 1 hit where as others can farm for years without getting it. That is how RNG works and anets type of RNG isnt that good enough to rely on it at all.

the problem is why are they still using a bad game mechanic like RNG
i understand rng and how it works…… after 96 hours there should be something that 4 days of game play and to day is the 4th day of event after to day i have more hours in the event then the event going on think about that for a min
RNG means that there is a random chance of you obtaining the key. It doesn’t mean that by the 4th day or X amount of hours you are guaranteed a key.
At least you’ve farmed a bit of money/materials. If you don’t want to farm, don’t
That’s why I haven’t participated, and why I approached my legendary weapon in a fairly ‘hands off’ way. I did a few pro-active things, but at the end of it all, I didn’t end up thinking about it too much and grinding up T5 to T6 and that sort of thing until I was about 90% completed.
When you are selected, also subjected to RNG, to participate in a beta from a pool of people, it’s a nice surprise. Like when you wake up one day and realize you are 90% of the way done with your Legendary.
If you have a chance at being selected, also RNG, but only if you actively go out and try to roll your own number, it might end up being really disappointing, because the RNG is in your face.
The problem for us is there is no way to get a ‘nice surprise’ invite.
Having said that, their approach might yield them (and I stress…might) better testers, as sitting out there for hours a day trying to be Charlie and get in the factory demonstrates you at least have the time and drive to possibly knock about in beta more.
In my case, it’s probably good that they weed me out of being selected that way, because in all honesty, I wouldn’t spend that much time there and probably wouldn’t be a good tester like I was in the old days.

Thought about it I think you need a job or need to go outside.

well the job na cause i am on disablity the out side part may be but then who would help protect the forts and make sure they do not get taken over

If it is such a bad mechanic, how come basically every single loot based game ever in the history of mankind have used and it keep using it?
And unless they simply invite every single one they will have to use some sort of RNG to select testers (unless they just outright sell access, but that is stupid for earlier beta tests).
Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Those rng dungeon armors tho…
/endsarcasm
Dry Top is rumored to have a higher drop rate.
I’m reminded of an old fable…the Fox and the Grapes.
I am sorry for your loss (well, for your absence of gain, anyway).
Good luck.
the problem here is that this is a completely unfair way to reward players, in the edn only the most dedicated (what i often call addicted) players can have even a small shot on getting a portal stone.
what’s worse is that it depends on magic find, this will mean that only ppl with a high enough MF can get one, lower then 100% and you get nothing.
IMO this is not a chance on getting in the beta, this is a way to filter out the addicts and only allow the farmers and zergers in the beta.
anyone who doesn’t care about any of that have no chance on entering, the thing they need to have in a beta like that.
my fear is that HoT is gonna be even more difficult then SW, it’s bad enough with all the event spamming crap and players constantly forcing hard mode in the open world.

Except that RNG doesn’t work that way. There’s no guarantee that a super dedicated person playing 12 hours a day for a week will get the portal. For others, killing mobs for half an hour nets them their reward. I wouldn’t call 30 minutes much of a dedication or an addiction. Yeah, the overall drop rate is low, but time spent doesn’t necessarily mean reward. If it did, then everyone putting in a certain amount of time would mostly be getting their portals, but that’s not happening.

that’s because they put a damper on the drop rate, have you ever had someone who barely has any MF at all have a portal drop?

I don’t know the answer to this. I see people linking the portal, but they don’t mention their magic find percentage, so I don’t know how much this affects getting the item.
Think of all the Ancient Bones, the Skritt bags, the pieces of scrap metal, the karma, the geodes & bandit crests etc etc you have got for your time.
I farmed Dry Top for a couple of hours on Tuesday, after the patch. I didn’t get a portal. Yeah, I would have liked to get one, but I made quite a bit of gold just doing the events, so I can’t complain too much. But I just don’t feel like forcing myself to grind for hours and hours to try to get an extremely rare item drop (even if it is for the next beta). Thus, I haven’t been back since then. Instead, I’ve been doing things I actually enjoy (both in-game and outside of the game). Maybe you should do the same, OP.
