There’s no reason why fashion in Tyria should follow real-life. Just because their level of technology roughly resembles what was seen in Renaissance Europe doesn’t mean the clothing has to.

Obviously there are some limitations – Kevlar jackets would be unrealistic because they don’t have the technology to make it. But there’s no reason they couldn’t have invented baseball caps, hoodies and hard-wearing denim like materials. Or even actual denim, it’s basically just made from cotton so it’s not impossible.

I think the OPs point is valid….the guy is very out of place in terms of dress….

Not that I think he’s a “time traveler”, but his garb is not “cannon” for that location.
