I wouldn’t say nobody cares. People like to see their feelings validated. Those who don’t like the game like seeing these posts, because it gives them a feeling of being part of something larger. Just human psychology.

If you like the game, of course, they’re not validating you. I don’t generally see how they’re constructive, since whatever is being complained about could be just as easily complained about without saying you’re leaving, but that’s my opinion.

Question for mods…are I quit posts against the rules or not. That’s really the only question here.

I agree with you and I too has played since pre-launch and still like it alot But… Posts like this is more or less just as pointless as I am leaving threads :P

There will always be poeple who want to voice their opinion about the game and thinks that an ‘I am leaving’ makes Anet listen even more to them. Even though there is a rule saying ‘No I am leaving threads allowed’ … But offcourse they don’t just say I am leaving they are also saying what they are disapointed with and gives feedback XD Meh…

I think it does change things. Potential new players come to forums of games to see what the community that actually cares enough about the game to post on forums is like. When they see all this, I believe someone who considered buying the game but wasn’t fully convinced, might not buy it after all. Many of the people in my gaming circle, including me, work KIND OF like this way. So I guess it might change things, but again, that’s just a guess based on own experiences, so it might be as well it changes nothing.

My friends of fb are always posting pictures and stuff about food they just ate or shoes they just bought, heck posts of them sat down have a cup of tea. What is pointless to one can be funny and mean something to someone else.
If a leaving post is constructive and not just a rant i like to read them, sometimes it’s good to know what others think about the game.

People should experience things for themselves and not trust the word of anonymous strangers. Good friends yes but not strangers. Its a bit of a gamble if they read that some people think that a game is poor and but they’ll never know if they would like it or not if they don’t try it out. Experienced mmo players should know what gaming forums are like, at least. And game companies and retailers give refunds now so its not even that much of a gamble.

Nope. I’m posting to let others read my opinion. If they feel the same way, it’s their own decision to buy the game or not. I post with the intention to let others read my opinion. People have their own feelings and opinions. Thats why person 1 might tend to feel better with gamer 1’s opinion, and person 2 might tend to see that gamer’s 2 opinion fits him more. So if people that kind of expect/want etc. the same things from games as I do, at least they know what my experiences with those things are. Could save them time and money, or they could not care because they don’t feel the same way about certain things as I do. I don’t post to ‘delibrerately deny sales’. If everyone would only read your white knight posts, I think everyone that’s considering to buy the game and goes to the forum for more opinions, and all they read are your white knight opinions, a lot would be dissapointed after some playtime.

But then again, I’m not going to discuss with you, because 1: again you are halting the topic and a healthy discussion. and 2: I wouldn’t even call it discussing what you are doing.

Yeah, that would be the ideal situation. First experience it for yourself. +1 from me. But I know a lot of people that don’t have that much money. They can’t buy games they might like, because they can only afford a couple of games. If they buy a game they might like, but come out empty handed they feel like they have wasted money and time. That is literally how some people see it. It’s the same as Metacritic and any other review site. They say what THEY think the game is like, and people that don’t have a lot of money to spare really take those opinions in consideration. And those are also the people that would take forum comments into consideration.

If you are a poor student and don’t have that much money to spent on games, you will take into consideration what other people think. If I had the money to spare, sure, I wouldn’t work this way, because hey, if I don’t like this game I just buy the next one and see if I like that one. Unfortunately, this doesn’t go for every gamer. I know I miss alot, but I can only spent my money 1 time, so it better be well spent.

Everyone posts with bias based on their own experience, their own likes and dislikes, their own level of intelligence, their own style of play. So if someone comes to the forums and lurks and sees you, they have no real context with which to judge what you say. You could be very insightful, or you might not be. They have no way of knowing.

Strangely enough, I answer posts like yours for the same exact reason that you leave them. Because I want people to see the other side too.

Very true, some people are in a situation where they need to study up on a game first. While I was finishing off my post I was starting to wonder why there isn’t a free trial for GW2. In two weeks people can get something of a feel for the game, if they have the time to play it often during that time. Its something that would help.

Maby you should start looking on Reviews (Youtube works since they usually shows video previews of the games) instead on reading what people says on forums, I am pretty sure that if you listened to what people say on forums you would never ever buy a game.

Well then that’s another thing then. I though you where reading *I leave posts’ and made your opinion of the game based on one or several disapointed costumer.
But as I said IMO, video reviews is the best to catch my interest Sometimes it’s even good to have the reviews on mute just to not be biased by the reviewers opinions :P

Strangely enough, I answer posts like yours for the same exact reason that you leave them. Because I want people to see the other side too.
But you see what you do is constructive and what I do isn’t. I understand now.

Then I’ll quote your second post, which was the first reply to any of my posts:

So what you’re saying is you’re posting to deliberately deny Anet sales because you personally don’t like the game? On a company’s forum? I’m not sure I’d like to do that.

Wow, much other side showing.
Much constructive.

Character assassin is what he does best. Gotta tip my hat to that.
