its got to the stage of the game were as farming to try and make gold is beyond a joke wth is up with anet constantly nerfing % drop rates to a bare minimum if there is items you want to buy ingame they should be easier to obtain and not having to spend months or years scraping ingame gold together or nearly impossible to get mats together to craft things its about time anet made it easier to get money ingame why should gamers of gw2 suffer at the hands of botters who get banned for there actions!!!!!

Because when Anet bans a botter they move to the next stolen/hacked account and bot again. It doesn’t help or do anything except encourage hackers to steal more accounts.

Did you really need to make another thread about this issue, when there are so many others floating around?

You obviously do not know the whole story. They did more than just fix the event. They decreased the loot rate and made it so one type of mob doesn’t drop anything at all. So even if you wanted to do the event the “right” way…you are going to get a lot less loot.

I’m not sure what people exactly want in terms of gold farmed per hour/day or what they want to do with all the gold. Regardless, if the amount of gold in the economy was to increase because of people’s ability to farm it wouldn’t cost of everything would just rise along with the increase in gold supply?

Further, wouldn’t having a few specific methods for earning gold (which are superior to other areas of the game/ways to play the game) drive people to those areas and ways of playing even if it wasn’t an enjoyable way of playing just so they can keep up? I mean, ANet buffs areas like SouthSun exactly in order to encourage people to play there. Other areas reward based more on risk, like Cursed Shore, but otherwise I’m quite happy with how much gold I’m able to make each day without having to work hard for it, and I’m able to pretty much have everything I want in the game and have gold left over.

The most reliable way to make money playing this game is to go to work, make real money, and just convert gems. Doing it that way I make 4 times the amount of gold in game than if I actually played it, and I have extra money and the bills are paid.

Basically the only way to farm in this game is to get a job and trade real cash for gold haha, which is probably Anet’s intent from the beginning, as sick as it is.

That being said, I wouldnt waste your cash.

I really don’t think anyone contradicts themselves more then you do Vayne. You talk about this philosophy that Anet has about wanting players to spread out and do other things and explore other parts of the world….yet you commend Anet for hoarding everyone to one spot, with multiple overflows mind you, to grind!

Troll somewhere else please.

Players should be free to grind anywhere they like. That MF buff is an illusion…I am pretty sure I make more money farming penti/shelt they way it is now then I do bouncing between the two events in south sun, I have yet to receive one exotic from there…maybe it’s just my bad luck…

They’re an infinite spawn. They are not supposed to give you good loot. This is a known game mechanic in EVERY SINGLE OTHER AREA OF THE GAME. You are just kitten that your little precious spot got taken away so you couldn’t get kittened amounts of rewards for 0 effort, 0 skill, 0 risk.

That is a very good point. What is considered “acceptable?” Buffing loot in and of itself doesn’t mean you’ll make more gold. Even granting more gold doesn’t guarantee more gold. That’s because if there’s more of something, the less it’d be worth. Though I do thing this is related to those gem prices. :/

Further, wouldn’t having a few specific methods for earning gold (which are superior to other areas of the game/ways to play the game) drive people to those areas and ways of playing even if it wasn’t an enjoyable way of playing just so they can keep up?

People are already driven to specific areas of the game, unfortunately.

That is “if the amount of gold increase”. People farming those dynamic event increase the amount of material. And price actually falls.

The dungeon runner is the one increase the gold supply.

So your response is that nothing is supposed to give you good loot….hmmm, well thought out my friend. Doesn’t make for a rewarding experience of game play though…

But perhaps you can read my response in its entirety…some mobs now drop ZERO loot!

What makes you think I farmed that spot? Because I defend a players right to play and farm where they please? You can’t say Anet doesn’t want you to farm and play in a single spot…explain South Sun and its multiple overflows?

I’m fine with them controlling drop rates if they came with a subsequent drop in requirements for mats to craft.

For example, Ascended Back Items require 250 of a T6 Mat, how is that supposed to happen if all the drops keep getting nerfed? If they want to nerf T6 Drops, fine, but reduce the requirements for crafting to compensate.

I honestly don’t know how anyone in this game has an Ascended Back Piece. 250 of any T6 Mat is just short of impossible for me. I could buy them on the TP, but I don’t think I should have to spend 150G just to get a back item. They really need to add these to Laurel Vendors. Even if it took me 2 months to get one it would be better then getting ‘bot banned’ trying to get mats.

At least I can make a little money farming Southsun. If they Nerf that it will probably be the final straw. They have to allow SOME way to make money.

There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand Binary, and those who don’t.

they made the mob not drop loot in that event. Period. Not anywhere else, just in that one spot. And that part is very easy to complete – use frost bow and get all the walls down. Then I think on the protect stage it drops loot again.

I think Anet has made “gold farming” more fun by negating the ability to do the same thing over & over & over & over & over & over….

Hit SSC for a bit, run some events, then bounce into CoF, then hit up Orr for some DEs, then run CoE, then back to SSC, then a fractal…you’re mitigating the grindy boredom by being forced to change things up. I get that it doesn’t let you “play how you wanna” but it’s Anet’s way of reducing grind by making it less appealing.

No…they nerfed the drop for that area in general…at least that’s how I understood it.

Why do people keep assuming we don’t like farming one spot? Why do people keep assuming we don’t have fun?

Can’t speak for anyone else…but I am capable of thinking for myself. Though that does seem like a hard concept for people to grasp.

the last time I checked and from what I’ve heard it’s only that one spot and not the whole area. All other pres still drop loot, the undead outside the Lyssa temple still drop loot – it’s literally that one pre.

And yet I still only loot blues and greens all day long in Southsun. If I can’t get a few rares every few hours with 200%+ magic find, then what person in their right mind would farm anywhere anymore? It’s to the point now where WoW has better drop rates than Gw2, and I remember a certain quest in WoW that the required item’s drop rate was less than 3%. I looted that item three times in 4 hours, and I feel like I’d rather have that drop rate than Gw2’s drop rates. If you can explain why you think the drop rates in Gw2 are fine, then please do. I can always refute with the thousands of opinions similar to mine that think the drop rates are beyond horrid.

I don’t know if you were around Op, but in the beginning there was a similar case where people would farm the grubs for loot at the Champ Giant in CS- we got a little pop up saying “this content has been temporarily disabled” thanks to those players.

The Lyssa event was not being completed- the fix is similar.

As for farming, I really do not understand that people still do not get the message that Anet does not want you to farm- they want you to play whole the game and practise sensible resource management.

Claiming that they nerf farming so that you should convert gems to gold is just silly imo- what sane person does that? It is not worth it.

That’s pretty much it imo. Using DR and nerfs as an excuse to harm the playerbase has been practiced before and those other games that did it died shortly after or lost so many of their players they almost did die off. (remember D3, lost 60% of it’s playerbase because someone thought it was a good idea to manipulate the drop rates there too).

Which leads me to believe they don’t have anyone on staff that knows mmo development history and who can tell them when something like this is going to happen. (empty servers more and more daily).

The problem isn’t that there isn’t farming per say the problem is that farming mats is required for making Runes/sigils or to sell to get these items for legendaries and for gear. there is no alternative. And there are not enough rewards for time spent even doing the things they DO want us to do. THAT’s the problem. no alternative rewards system so the one rewards system we see in every other game (farming) when nerfed becomes a very big deal.

They need to do with T6 mats what other games have had to do in the past. Vendor those to us thru a controlled vendor that only sells a certain number a day for karma points. That would solve the problem because the bags they have and the boxes don’t drop nearly enough of the lodestones or other materials so rare they might as well be latinum.
