I, as many others, have not been able to play gw every day/week for the past 4 years. Meaning some achievement points have come and gone. making climbing on the leader boards impossible, even if i get all remaining achievement points there is available, i would just bearly reach top 10.
which making hunting them pointless since i never will be able to reach the top.

so my suggestion is making all the achievement points that is in historical available again. either forever or for one week per category. So first week could be the wvw S1 achievements, just going from where ppl left those off.
and the clockwork chaos for a week, and the twilight assault, and the Fractured thingy and so on. there are maaany achievements that should still be attainable.

if u dont want to let a map change so much, because it would mby ruin the feeling of the ever changing world.
Then at the very least, let us activate a overflow with everyone in squad (50 ppl) or an instance with 5-10ppl.
Stuff like fractured and wvw1 and queens gauntlet achievements, wont intervene with anyones gameplay.

We need to accept that there will always be things in the game (as in RL) that we just won’t get to do. I don’t have a problem with missing a chance for historical achievements, so long as ANet keeps adding new ones to the game.

However, aside from a point of view, it’s also impractical to bring back most of the historical achievements.

  • The original Miniature Set I, II, III collections were for storing them in your bank simultaneously; that can’t be done at all and it’s been replaced by unlocking them for the wardrobe.
  • Similarly, certain fractal achievements no longer apply and have been replaced.
  • Similarly, certain festival achievements have also been superceded.
  • LS1 can’t be brought back without a lot of work and so none of its achievements can be resurrected.
  • Similarly, some WvW achievements applied to tournaments.
  • Similar, some PvP achievements applied to seasons.
John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”

I support OP’s idea. I missed out on some earlier LWS1 stories because I wasn’t invested in the game so much back then and now I regret it. I’ve accepted the fact that some achievements I’ll never have and I’m fine with it. Even if they brough back the story without any achievements or rewards, I’d still be happy because I wanna experience what I’ve missed out on and perhaps re-experience some of the stories I did and had a great time with.
I realise it would take a lot of work, but I think it’s gonna be worth it. A lot of new people have joined GW2 lately and some were around for a long time, but happened to be busy for long periods of time and may have missed out to LWS1 too. This is why it’d be great to have a way to repeat it on demand just like with LWS2.

I’ve seen an idea here on the forum that i liked: Add unachievable AP to the daily cap!
Daily/Monthly cap is currently 15000.
Say there’s 2000 AP (number strictly an example) that are permanently unachievable.
Player A has all of these, and maxed daily.
Player B has 500 of these, and 14000 daily AP.
Add unachievables to the Daily cap, and we get a new cap of 17000.
A is still capped, since they already had those AP.
B is now at 14500 of 17000 and can continue to chip away at the AP total for more than 50 days.
Later, another 100 AP becomes unachievable due to changes in content. This is again added to the cap.
A hadn’t done those, and now sits at 17000 of 17100 and can get these points.
B had, so they are now at 14600 of 17100.

Problem with LS1 is that it mostly took place in open world, and many of those events were massively cooperative, involving whole maps. I don’t see how you could redo Scarlet Invasions for single player, for example. Or marionette, for that matter.
You might make something based on it, but in reality it would be completely different experience.
(now, bringing back marionette as it was then, as a world boss (with the story that it just keeps repairing itself) might be a good idea. It was a good boss design, and had really nice rewards too, even comparing to today. And if it turns out to be harder now, with decreased population, it was also really easy to tweak (by manipulating mob density in assault waves, and the timer of platform encounters/hp of bosses)

It’s simply never going to happen. The season 1 rework will also likely never happen. What they should have done from the start was create it in a way where they could replay the events after a time. Instead of taking year long breaks like did both before and after HoT, they could have replayed the world events. But that’s long gone now.

The far more likely solution is to simply split the leaderboards. Have another one that only includes the achievements which are possible to obtain, but the top spot is going to be tied with thousands of others, eventually.

As other have said, LW1 was open world for the most part. While it would be great for people who didn’t get to play LW1 for what ever reason, the work alone would be a big task for ANet to bring it to the live servers. as it would need to make sure it wouldn’t brake anything that is live now. Maybe one day ANet will bring it back in some form. But I do not think we will ever see the open world can tent brought back like it was.

As for the achievements, that’s a big ask for ANet when there is no real reason for them to do it. I mean they are there for the most part for people to do if they want to. the only achievements that ANet kind of made mandatory are the ones with Mastery points attached to there completion, which I feel was a bad idea.

This is a bad suggestion. It makes historical achievements totally meaningless. Example: Getting legendary in two pvp seasons would only be worth 1 day of dailies, so 200+ hours of effort would be devalue by 5min of daily.
Why would someone ever do achievements that are going to to be retired if they take more work than dailies? Not to mention it would ruin the leaderboards because the whole top 25 would tied.
I can see Anet bringing back historical achievements where it makes sense like Super Adventure Box.

It’s not going to happen, because half of what you ask simply isn’t possible anymore.

Also, I get it, for a ‘’leaderboard hunter’’ like yourself, it may make AP hunting useless, but I look at the chests and I find I have plenty of motivation to hunt after certain achievements I never bothered with before, even if only to get the next chest of free stuff.

the idea to make the historical AP not count, is somthing i rather not see, and something anet wont ever do i think. Since that would mean a massive outcry from the ppl who for example did 75 winter JP to get those extra 15 AP or howmany it was.

If you think the only reason to do achievement points are the leaderboard and everyone should be able to get the same achievement points, I’m not really sure what to tell you.

The fact is, if 1000 people were all tied for number one the leaderboards would be pointless anyway.

The leaderboards are rewarding dedicated players who played for hours to get those. Anything to change that would belittle their labor. I’m in the top 300 myself and never see myself getting into the top 200. I can’t do it and I’m not going to try.

However, I still get the pinnacle skin and the full radiant armor set. There are other rewards besides the leaderboard.

I see this as a non-issue.

Why dont you just ask Anet to give you all the AP?

I understand life happens but you werent there so why should you get AP points for stuff you werent around for?

This out cry for AP is like the dad who abandoned his son but now the dad is all better and wants to make it all better except you have been missing for 16 years.

Take the Ap you can get now and climb the ranks.

Yup. Many of the historical achievements are there for a real reason. However, I would like to see Anet bring back all of the one time festivals (dragon bash, queens gauntlet, the zephyrite festival), and the associated achievements with those. If nothing else this will at least be good for content droughts

i dont got why all of u keep saying that the top 1000 would be tied. yea that would happend if anet diddent make any content for 2-3 years or so. im rank 70-75 atm and theres 1500 AP i can get from pvp, wvw and collections. Even if historical AP got removed, only the maybe top 3 or smt would be tied.
well not that removing historical would be a valid idea anyways.

Yup. Many of the historical achievements are there for a real reason. dragon bash happened once, queens gauntlet twice, zephyrite festival twice.
Anet said they are recurring events but for some reason they stopped happening
