hey there forumers,
i have notices that the users are being more picky by the day when it comes to making groups or parties. especially for dungeons. i have been denied for it many times cause i am not level 80 (while the dungeon is for 35 and up). this is making me quite angry. i shoudnt have a hard time getting a party together or joining one, since i already have the required level.

but it’s getting worse; since the new ‘lost shores’ dungeon is released, all i see is people asking for level 80 with exotic armor. this makes me feel left out. i might not have the best of the best, but that doesn’t mean i’m worthless. thanks to this i will barely be able to do any dungeon untill i reached the end-game. they seem to forget that everyone is scaled up(or)down to thesame level

i am curious what your oppinion is on this. do you find it a good thing, a bad thing. are you overlooking users with lowers levels?

Pretty soon it will be ascended gears or no go. Don’t mean to get your hopes down but just to give you a headsup.

On topic, I don’t mind doing Duns with low levels without exotics.

tried acking for groups, taking up invites but i guess condition builds are not welcome..

this is to be expected. The stats are better on the gear you get from FoTM but its a big BIG grind.

Since we now have the start of a gear treadmill. this will happen more and more.

Please get your priorities straight Anet.

you may be scaled up but that isnt worth as much as you think it is.

you dont have grandmaster traits, as such you are missing a lot of defense options. you dont have gear with 3 sets of stats either, further putting your survivability at risk.

rezzing low level players multiple times a run is akin to 4 manning the dungeon.

ill take 1 low level player with me if the rest of the group is near max level. 2 or more…no thanks.

sure you can complete AC with a group of 5 lev 35’s. but you will die many times in the process. that prospect is only worth the time investment to the low level player.

It’s a natural thing: Players repeating content are getting increasingly bored of the repetitiveness, which increases their need to progress faster. They want to make sure their party members are geared up and experienced enough to complete the content as fast as possible, and the only way to do that is by discrimination of casuals and inexperienced players.

By adding ascended gear and infusion, they’ve actually caused it to increase.

We’re likely to see stuff like gearchecks become really common and for people to demand "features like gearscore and DPS recount to be added to the game.

I’m holding off on dungeons until I’m lvl 80 and geared up. I feel bad when people have to constantly heal me, no fun in that for anyone. Good news is there’s more than enough for me to do while I’m slowly making my way to 80. Try sending out the word that you’ll party up and give a hand to anyone dealing with a Champion. That can feel like a mini dungeon.

Unfortunately with FotM, it’s the other way around. The mechanics (unique to that dungeon) make it a losing proposition to bring less experienced or less powerful characters, on a completely different level than the couple minutes you can shave off your completion time by getting a decked-out group for AC.

And to all who said, that they could do nothing about it, oh believe me, yes they could. Throwing the whole “new dungeon” system into “Recycle Bin” should be best for the start…

So you know guys … FoTM and Asceded gear was created for players (HC PvE) who wants to progress pve. So if players want to progress it you bet they will be picky, I am hc pve player myself with about 200+ explorable dungeon runs and you bet I am really not inviting just some randoms with bad gear and no skills.

So again, just repeating. FoTM was created mainly for level 80 level HC players who wants to progress. So I dont see any reason to complain about elitism .. cause thats how it is.

So you bet that random/pug groups are going to have problems in this dungeons, you bet that players that want to finish every difficulty possible will ask for best players only. If you dont like it, make your OWN group and just run difficultry one with whoever you want.

I will make mine group of elitist players and nothing you can do about it.

So STOP complaining about elitism here .. cause thats how it is.

its not complaining, not at all. i just want to say my word on this, and i am also curious on other people’s oppinion on this topic.

this is how i experience it;
those who are not ’’elite’’ cannot enjoy the game fully, cause they are being overlooked by many others. it makes players like me feel left out in some part of the game. we have a hard time to both join and create a party. seeing how it goes now, it’ll only goes downwards from here. this just makes me wonder why.

the game itself already scales everyone to thesame level, yet people want the best of the best for their party or its a no go. i see the way players are being treated as a big hastle, not as something to enjoy. for both sides.

Fully geared and traited level 80 is 2x more powerful than level 1-79 scaled to 80.

Then usually 80 lvl players have more experience already, usually I run with players with same experience/skill level like me and you BET there are bad players and good players.

You just cant expect someone like me who did so many expo runs, have 950 hours played to play with someone who didnt do even one expo yet, or its badly traited with full glass canon build.

So just let elitism/HC players play together. Casuals with casuals and bad with bad players.

Same goes in real life, you cant expect profession football, basketball .. etc players to just invite random unskilled player to play with them. And you have another hundereds similar examplers out there.

People think the game was equal all around before but it most definitely was not. People were asking for exotics only and lvl 80 way before this new armor tier.

BTW all this elitism is not about stats its about dungeon. I ve done the same in Arah, in AC, in CoE ..

Agreed. But I thought skill =/= gears so why ask for full exotics then? Skill has nothing to do with having exotics on you… Sorry if I misunderstood your words.

People like you are saying skill =/= gears (which I wholeheartedly support!) and then you come and ask for best possible gears under pretenses “that skilled players want to run with skilled players and not carry over unskilled people, who die at every encounter”.
It’s usually people asking for full lvl 80-full exotic group that needs to be carried over. And this comes from my experience with those kind of people in this game.

I DO mind people not allowing others to participate based on gear and not skill. I’ll wait and see if that happens or not.

A group leader can set whatever criteria he wants for joining his group. If he wants a fast run, he has every right to take level 80 and/or geared people over others.

My suggestion is to take some initiative and start your own group so you can invite the people YOU want to run with.

You think it’s bad now wait till you get level 80, have full exotics and people won’t take you because you’re not a warrior or guardian.

Some groups currently do that, 4 warriors, 1 guardian, because they have highest base armor, warriors have highest base hp, giving them decent survivability even in berserker gear, and they do the most damage out of any class in pve, along with solid support via shouts and banners.

Meanwhile other classes get nerfed instead.

If you dont have the time to do the grind find another game or spvp cause it is going to get much much worse.Or ask Anet to put the gear in the cash shop.
These are the preferred clients that get preferential treatment and it wont stop.

Soon it will be ascended and infusion or no go .

Alreday there is “what progression are You in Fractal ??? Oh only tier 1 oh sorry then no go in this group etc” and thats only after a few hrs since the patch.

Many saw this coming in another thread with 197 pages and 9800+ post to date. Some denied it but now it’s here.

Also the fact that the add higher stats not just infusion slot on the new gear is a way for them to try to mold us into instance/dungeon grinders (to get the best gear) to make sure the WoW crowd of self proclaimed 1337 instance grinders (as can’t really call them raiders in here with only 5 man dungeons) feels they are catered too and treated special. Not even any mention of adding the new stuff to real crafting. Just the backslot thing to Mystic Forge.

This is the result many predicted.

The WoW crowd made themselves heard loudly and unfortionetly some in management or among the devs must have listened to them.

Shame as I pre-ordered this game in the belives it would not try to be another WoW Wannabe, bought a copy for my son as well as a copy for my step-son. Since the annnouncement of Ascended gear and agony/infusion mechanics I have just felt meh and lost even interest in doing dailies. Been playing this game almost every day and done dailies almost every day since 3 days early access.

When a friend heard and read about Ascended/agony/infuson, first thing he said was “Oh just like radiance in LoTRO then. Here comes the instance grind”. Then he reactivated some sub for some other game and havent logged on. He has two GW2 accts and even moved one to our server to have all 10 chars on same server, now he hasnt even logged back in since this announcement.

I myself logged in to check event today and couldn’t even complete phase one due to all bugs with NPC so cant progress and then seeing that with the groups only accepting certain players to do new dungeon and I just went sigh
and thought to myself:
“just as I predicted when reading about ascended/agony/infusion”.

Been waiting for this game for so long as I don’t want to play WoW, LoTRO, SW TOR for the exact same reason that I have now lost interest in GW2. Was hoping GW2 wouldn’t go down this slippery slope.

Now no MMO left to play or even look forward to as they all end up like WoW sooner or later it seems.

This will be my last post on this topic ever because I find this topic the most useless one ever.

You can curse about elitist player all you want. But you are just proving to everyone how desprite person you are. ‘Mommy, they dont want to playyyy with me … ’’

Normal person would just ignore hc/elitist players, create his own group and wont call them words for this dumb reason.

Stop beeing touchy and just accept the fact, there are probably better players than you.
I already did accept the fact .. Now its your turn.

Create your own party, add friends, join a guild. Please!

And by the way .. If you didnt know guys, GW 1 was A LOT about elitism. So you know.

JUST CREATE YOUR OWN PARTY. PROBLEM SOLVED.

I don’t understand why this is a problem at all. Don’t like how someone is recruiting for their own group? Create your own group, problem solved. You can scoff and think you’re morally superior in your own little world of fancy candy canes and pink goblins riding unicorns with butterscotch clouds that rain chocolate hearts for all the kiddies because now it’s your group to do what you like with.

Play how you like, that’s the slogan, right?

This “elitism” only affects you because you refuse to take the initiative to put your own group together. So while you’re sitting on the sidelines judging that elitist jerk for having “crappy morals”, relax for a second and look in the mirror because at that moment you’re no better than what you perceive him to be now.

+1

Losers make excuses, winners make it happen.

There might not be a huge problem with it right now. The problem is when it basically becomes the norm.
