there’s a new veggie node in the home instance {gem store}
and it actually dropped decent return, so whoever did their homework over at arena net thank you

y’know how long it took me to decide on the purchase, about ten seconds.. it’s a minor content addition and despite it costing gems, it’s functional.. ergo it has value and can be appreciated.. why am i going off on a tangent about it? well, i feel it is necessary at this point to express my concerns as a casual {yet heavy hours per day} player..

there’s nothing wrong with spending gems, you can earn them in game.. the problem is content itself.. elitist entitlement crowds aside, as mmo developers you need to deeply consider how the content of your game is implemented.. veggie node vs enchanted treasure chest.. collections are a great idea, and it can’t be amazingly difficult on your end seeing how mini collection used to contribute to achievement points.. you’re simply tacking on a reward at the end now.. anyway, what does a home instance node, a collection quest, and the trading post have in common.. the simple answer is nothing..

somewhere along the development stage things got askew.. thrown into these collections are rare tradable items.. it’s just a grievance to people trying to earn something in game and a failed attempt to revitalize the economy and lesser traveled content..

if you want people to spend gems, earn your customers trust
if you want people to participate in wvw, give them a sense of server community
if you want people to explore dungeons, build better dungeons
if you want pvp, don’t sublet your mmorpg
if we post irrationally, the forum becomes a trivial wasteland

as incoherent as this post has been, it is what came to mind when i browsed the gem store this morning..  purpose / functionality = appreciation ~ value

oh and btw, there’s a free wxp booster in the promo tab this morning

cheers
