hello guys my name is hunter steele and today i wanted to talk about where the heck is the pact during the attack of scarlet on lion’s arch. So basically if you played and completed the personal story or at least went to orr you see that there are many (spoiler alert: airships and choppers that the pact has. many and many of them fighting dragons here and there). well where the heck are these now? isn’t the pact supposed to defend lion’s arch? well if it was then the first thing we would see is scarlet’s airships destroy and tear down lion’s arch apart. one day later: The pact airships do some action and take down scarlet’s airships. instead of just evacuating citizens why don’t we try to reclaim lion’s arch as well? Maybe it is the miasma but i believe if the (spoiler alert: mega LIT cannon that split zahitan apart) was rebuilt and fired at scarlet’s big airship it would completely destroy it too. I also believe that the pact has a lot of soldier’s that can take down scarlet’s minions. One more thing that concerns me is claw island, they never told us what happened to it. tell me what you guys think about this please share your ideas in the comment section below thanks.

The pact is where the pact is.
If you finished your personal story they are in fort trinity.
If you have not finished your personal story they are where ever your on your personal story.

This issue has been debated and talked bout a lot. So I’ll try to keep it as simple as possible.

The goal of Arenanet is to give everyone a story that can be seen as your story (or mine). Some off us started playing at launch, other just joined us two weeks ago. but it is supposed to be your story.

So in essence that is a good initiative right?
The living story is to make the game feel alive and changing. this is important to all levels and all experiences. a common complaint is that , when going through regular gameplay, the game feels empty. That is understandable. why should I go back to caledon forest??. so it is important that also low level players that didnt do their story yet can experience the living story without a handicap.

Now back to your question and back to role playing. When we found out that LA is the target, Ellen tried to warn the other captains, but failed. They didn’t saw the danger. This is the (lore) reason why the pact isn’t there, but the real reason is that the timeline of the living story is different then the timeline of the personal story. by doing as they did, you can experience the living story at any moment. You can be done with killing Zhaitan, but you can also still be in the progress off retaking claw island.

So for you the questions you ask might seem relevant, but for someone who never visited claw island, it would be utterly confusing.

The writersteam is trying their best to find a balance here,. I think they did a great job by putting the dilemma in the story, but I would respect it of you disagree.

Arise, opressed of Tyria!

The Pact did not fight Scarlet, there was no resistance from anyone at all to the attack.

It was not in the script. They felt that Scarlet had to destroy LA to make her believable, and LA died to do so. As far as making players “care” well, I guess that’s why it is now called the LA Farm by most, not even a battle now.

When an outcome is predetermined there is no point asking how or why. Doesn’t matter, and any answer given will be contrived and after the fact. Lore and plot holes will be glossed over and retconned to suit the script. (if they bother)

Personal story is now set in current Destroyed LA. Not much care was taken, obviously.

Ley lines. The perfect solution to deadlines and writers block. Now in an easy open Can.
