as in which classes do you want to have which weapons and/or new skills for next spec (shouts, wells, etc) in order mine are:

we need more rifle and shortbow on anyone. they just aren’t used as much as other weapons

double pistols for warrior!! plsss

greatsword for ele!! PLZ THIS IS MY DREAM I NEED TWILIHHT ON MY MAIN ELE! Id also like to see wells on ele and new elements (if nothing else at least green energy because green is fairly underused in profession colors and energy could offer sumthin doffurunt.

Commonly requested is spear taken for land use and then made for a paragon-like class. That could be interesting for a Guardian

Focus perhaps for Rev to be closer to a Ritualist

Shortbow for ele. I have no reason other than the legendary compliments my ele’s look. Seems like a good enough reason to me..

Frankly, I think this is the direction they should go with Daggers on Warrior – instead of being directly condition weapons, they should be high on CC, with liberal access to stuns, pulls, pushes, dazes, immobilze, and especially Knockdown (With the Burst being “Takedown”. It’s totally not The People’s Elbow, I swear!)
I even thought of how it works!


Auto Attack Chain:
“Right Hook” – Punch your foe in the face.
“Left Hook” (If dagger off-hand) – Punch your foe in the face with your other hand (Replaced depending on off-hand weapon. Sword bleeds, Shield carries a half-second block, Axe cleaves, mace hits, Warhorn… no idea)
“Right Haymaker” – Hit somewhat harder with the right fist.
Dagger 2 – “Quick Hold” Stab your target and spin them around counts as a pull and whirl finisher (With bolts emanating from the target). → “Backhand” – Daze your opponent with a backhand, or knock him down if his back is to you.
Dagger 3: “Jujitsu trip” – Block for very brief time, follow by a knockdown.
Dagger 4: “Body Check” – Slam your chest into your oppoenent while making a “Come at me!” pose! Block for the duration of the attack, and knockdown if they’re dazed, and launch if they’re stunned.
Dagger 5: “Victory Run” Immobilize your foe with a stab, and evade attacks as you spin around them, cleaving with your mainhand weapon while shouting “OH YEAH!”

Dagger burst: “Takedown” + Flex, then body slam your opponent with a mighty elbow-first leap. Self-knockdown, push the opponents back (No interrupt, though) if they’re standing (And deal trivial damage), but deal massive damage if they’re knocked down or downed (And interrupt if they’re downed). Yes, it’s a blast finisher, and will also proc Death from Above if it’s traited

A I’m surprised they’re not working on implementing new kinds. ANet shown it has the resources to pump out regular skins really fast with the Black Lion skins. Making a few new weapon types and distributing them across a few professions and making a retroactive set of skins in a logical way only makes sense.

The crossbow is a weapon which for all intents and purposes should be in GW2, and would make tons of sense on the engineer, warrior and thief, which are running out of reasonable options and in the case of the thief, has a ranged deficiency while needing to uphold the capacity for stealth, which the rifle doesn’t uphold very well, unless focused on the revealed mechanic like my proposal (See signature).

Frankly, I imagine a crossbow working nicely on any profession except maybe the necromancer and revenant for thematic reasons.

Obviously things can’t go overboard, as a lot of weapons are similar in nature and could simply be released as skins (even a crossbow could be made as a rifle skin). That said, some subdiversity here would be nice.

They’re going to continue with the specialization weapon thing, though. Otherwise they’re likely either power-creeping profession playstyles which already exist, or not doing enough to justify using the line. The new weapon, and subsequently, specializations, are a big part of expansion pack sales.

I would like to see either Ranger or Thief equiped like the Warden from LOTRO. The Warden used both a spear and a javelin along with a notched offhand shield. Take the under water spear and the centaur lance, and you’re in business. Spear for melee and javelin for ranged. Both being main hand weapons carried in the back. The shield had a cutout section on the upper right corner so you could use the melee spear. Something different anyway.

Haven’t thought about it too much but I do think it’s about time that Thief got a long range weapon.

Rifle could be good, make them the “Sniper” class since thief is all about big damage while trying to stay out of sight as mush as possible. I would leave the skills up to anet to figure out.

Edit: I posted before reading everyone else’s ideas, after looking over them just now it seems that Thief and rifle is a common thought for a lot of people.

Yea, it fits conceptually, but it’s not even remotely possible to balance reasonably well without giving other professions mechanics which invalidate all other existing builds. That’s unreasonable just for the additions to one class.

Rifle in that case is either sustained damage with no stealth and no burst or a control-oriented weapon with low damage. I can safely say any sniping ability with even close to a 2.0 coefficient is game-breaking for the thief at 1200-1500 range with stealth capacity.

Usually when we take an elite line we have to sacrifice something. If it’s done right it could just be that stealth is not needed when using a rifle. They have to find new ways for people to play thief, needing stealth in almost every build pigeon holes people too much and gives the class very little variety. Rifle or not Thief needs a long range option to help balance out all the classes. As for stealth that may or may not need to be taken in to consideration. I think Thief has a few issues at the moment with regards to stealth, one is its one of the only other ways for Thief to heal himself. Maybe if Anet addressed that, stealth may not be needed so much in builds and variety could be more possible.

Besides all that look how they added a long range option to guardian and not making it too over powered (as in not so much so better than Ranger, yes I still prefer a ranger LB over Guardian), the same could/should be done for thief.

Oh, I agree completely that the thief should have, and to a fair extent, needs a 1200 range weapon.

That said, sniping from stealth is a huge problem. High coefficients on the thief are dangerous, as the post above mine demonstrates. The 1200 range advantage and huge mobility and crazy damage modifiers the thief has access to is something I don’t think that can be reasonably balanced if the rifle is designed for substantial damage.

I’ve rigged a suggestion which attempts to really shake up the way the thief plays, and am always looking for more feedback (see signature).

My wish list:

Elementalist: Off-Hand Sceper, gaining use of Spirit Weapons.

Revenant: After the HoT story I would suggest that a Trahearne Legend with Greatsword seems quite likely (although probably not my favourite), perhaps with a larger amount of hard and soft crowd control abilities mixed with protective support.

Guardian: Paragon, landspear. Yes, I went there. If the Crystal Desert was to be the next expansion destination it would seem more fitting than to give us the paragon-type specialisation in a jungle region.

Mesmer: MH Pistol, gaining a set of skills which cause environmental effects such as the ability to call down phantom rockfalls onto enemies, open up spectral crevasses in the ground to pull foes in, throw illusionary tree trunks at foes to knock them back etc. I’d really like Mesmer to play more on the “illusion” side, and I don’t just mean clones & phantasms. Again, if we go to the Crystal Desert for the next expansion, the whole mirage theme fits.

Revenant: greatsword; which was highly requested even before the live beta of HoT. I’m still wondering why it never happened. It makes more sense for a heavy armor class to have a greatsword than a lightweight like a mesmer. Elite spec = shield. Seriously, who even uses a shield on any profession? I almost never see any players with a shield, and that goes for all professions that can use it.

There’s something charming about rangers.

Warrior – Dagger main hand (I cant see warrior getting out of that brawler stereotype just yet)
Guard – Axe main hand ( guard needs a good one hand Condi melee weapon with some burning skills)
Rev – Focus off hand (Snaff) longbow (Eir) snaff is my preferred pick I just think it too soon for eir
Ranger – Rifle ( if the ranger don’t get more ranged weapon types it not living up to its name)
Engi – Mace main hand (it needs a weapon to compliment the off hand shield)
Thief – off hand sword ( I want say rifle but I think anet want keep the thief close quarters for balance)
Mesmer – Hammer (no logic for this pick but it my main and I want a freaking hammer)
Necro – Torch ( it a popular pick and a condi off hand for burning could be cool, but due to necros condi dominance I expect it have a defensive none condi nature for balance)
Ele – swo….nope changed my mind going say shortbow ( I just think anet will troll on this one for last expac because they know you want sword. also I think anet don’t want ele to have weapons the same as the conjure weapons that why I expect no ele greatsword,hammer,axe,shield or longbows)

My wish list:

Revenant: After the HoT story I would suggest that a Trahearne Legend with Greatsword seems quite likely (although probably not my favourite), perhaps with a larger amount of hard and soft crowd control abilities mixed with protective support.

This is poetic, I LOVE this idea, although I hate Mr T. this would be really cool.

I would just like to see short bow and pistol get more love with any classes tbh.
