we can customize backpack soon!
What do they mean by customize your backpack though? It sounds like it’s just going to be text in the gemstore advertising the new backpack or something silly like that, rather than the literal ability to customize our back pieces.
I’m only here because sometimes I just like to watch things burn.

This. marketing/placeholder slogan seems likely or tied to the legendary somehow.
Would be great if we finally get dyeable backpacks and weapons. But I don’t think that’s the case. :/
Nah, it sounds quite misleading. I thought I saw some advertising similar to that wording on previous gem store back-packs via “customize your backpack”… meaning; a different backpack skin… not necessarily dye-able etc.
However, I would welcome backpacks being dye-able if possible at all.

So what do we have here…
New ways to get mats for the spinal packs (most likely a bag with possible blade shards, sprockets and on rare occasions power cores) and new ways to get mats for mawdrey.
What’s interesting are the mysterious keys. We were able to dye the spinal pack and now we might be able to so that with mawdrey, too. Don’t expect that to be a trend for every backpiece though… for now it seems to be only for the blade pack and mawdrey.
We could upgrade the vanilla YELLOW -Ascended- Spinal Blades to 1 of 3 colors but once chosen there was no way back.
So: red, green, blue FROM the vanilla yellow.
There is no actual dye-ing involved, nor can I make a black, purple or pink one…

if it is just some customisation where oyu can add tiny things
that would rather boring :/
sooo many backpieces look epic but cant be used because the color looks horrible with the rest characters looks….
just so sad when good design is so wasted because of a tiny problem like not being able to dye it!

Thats most likely just the message you get on the art for the new backpa- i mean wings..
There have been plenty of “Customise your Backpack!” catchphrases used before in regard to gemstore backpieces.
It simply means that you can customise your backpack with one of the new items available in the gemstore. It doesn’t mean anything more than that- previously people have also thought “This means we can dye our backpacks” but this is not true.
So don’t get your hopes up. It’s just a marketing tagline.
I’ll see if I can find any past versions of this tagline- I’m pretty sure we saw it for the Feathered Wings and maybe Job-O-Tron.
Edit: so far I can only find this, but I’m sure I’ve seen the phrase “Customise Your Backpack” elsewhere, perhaps on the gemstore main-page images themselves

I’d be very surprised if this was anything more than a tag line for a new or re-released backpack in the gem store.
This is the problem with datamining – the information they find is often completely out of content and it’s down to the person who finds it, or anyone reading what they found, to guess what that context might be. But it is always a guess.
When people are aware of that it’s not an issue, but especially as the news spreads and context gets lost it’s easy for someone datamining one line of text and speculating on what it might be to get confused with an official announcement and then people get angry when Anet don’t release what they “promised”.

Really just check our how they make money with the gemstore… Selling black wings.. Selling white wings… Selling green glowing eyes… Selling red glowing eyes… Selling blue glowing eyes… Coming soon purple glowing eyes!
That greed makes me sick! Make those dyeable!!!
