We all know how much chance we have to get Cantha we want so much but since that Chinese or Korean guy or whatever he is from NC soft decided to remove that content from GW lore (atleast for GW2) i wander how much chance we have to get Elona.Does any1 have any problem with Africa now and is there a chance that we get this content in future.I whould really like that GW2 release every year some big expanison like they done in original GW where every year we get another content with different lore, different environment, culture and so on?

I would guess Elona is still on the table. Most likely we will get a look at it before Cantha because we could travel though the crystal desert. I loved the Lore and History of Guild Wars, its what makes the Serious Interesting to me. I would be very disappointed if we don’t get back to Cantah and Elona at some point.

Why would Cantha not make it but Elona does? Both are culturally different.. that’s what I just don’t understand about this whole Cantha fiasco.

A certain company seems to have problems with mixed culture…

Back to WoW, make GW2 fun please.

I don’t know if its a problem per say. I expect that we will see both of them eventually, if we ever do see an expansion. There are alot of fans who want these. It would be crazy to not sell fans what they want. That isn’t to say that it doesn’t happen.

I’m all for Elona content, because I’m just waiting for the day that the crystal desert door opens in Fields of Ruin. More than likely, I bet Anet will probably expand the current territory and add new skills/builds/weapons or possibly give more weapon sets to each class, but nothing too big soon. Though I bet we’ll be able to explore places like the crystal desert, blazeridge mountains, woodland cascades, etc in future content

There wasn’t a single place in Nightfall or Prophecies as bad as Kaineng City. That place was gross.

Cardboard City was pretty bad. It wasn’t until you go to the Jade Sea and Echovald that it got better. Before that, it was all mazes.

I personally would welcome both Elona and Cantha.

I myself prefer Elona because that’s when I started playing GW1 and it’s very memorable for me, lots of Nostalgia. On top of that I think the lore and setting were very impressive.

Thank you!
Such a depressing place, yes once you get past that you have a Jade Sea and lots of trees. Just billions of them, oh and forced PvP because you gotta have them Faction points!

Meanwhile in Elona you are given a vast expanse to explore, a wonderful desert environment, and a God to overthrow.

Elona > Cantha all day long and twice on Sunday.

Well Arena net said that they planing some big content patch for next year so i hope Elona coming soon.I hope that when (if) they ever release Cantha or Elona…i hope wont have anything to do with dragons.Im so tired of killing dragons…Dragon Age,Witcher2,Skyrim….always some dragons lol. They should take an example from GW1 or Assassins Creed where every new game is new culture, new story and fresh start like this makes games fun to play.

We would likely see Elona before Cantha do to the crystal desert link but honestly with as much of Tyria as is left to explore Lyssa only knows when we’ll see it .

I would really like to see the different cultural areas. But how big are Elona and Cantha (relative to the current tyria map)? I’ve never played gw1 before. If theyre the size of Tyria, then we might have some problems~

Elona is my favourite continent in the original. Loved the exotic island, the vast deserts, and Vabbi, Vabbi, Vabbi. Everything from the music to the lore, and the gameplay design, I found to be very enjoyable.

However, I loved Elona because I’ve actually felt deeply immersed in its world. The interesting scenarios that the story took me (assaulting the capital through the seas, the running away and being hunted, the creation of a new sunspear base by none other but ourselves and being able to build upon it, the riches of Vabbi, and the corrupted “Egypt” area) made me enjoy the world more, and so did the lore in quests between story missions (all the little details that make the world feel alive), and even the exploration, which was the best of GW1 at that time, with more open maps, and plenty of small non-outpost towns to discover hiding smalls quests with interesting lore.

And, of course, those little gameplay details that are so flavorful, like the treasure chests, or the riches guarded by the djinns. Etc.

But would Elona have as much charm in GW2 as it did in GW1? This would depend on if Anet has learned with its mistakes and flaws or not. There’s way too many WPs in GW2, which destroys any sense of travelling after the first time. There’s almost nothing to discover, with the exception of jumping puzzles, because everything is clearly placed in the map, which makes exploration feel more like a mathematical “go there, do that, go to other place” than an adventure. The lack of enemy patrols, exciting encounters and unpredictable dangers or locations takes away from the excitement of exploring. The story in GW2 has been rather weak at making us love the world more. GW2’s hearts and dynamic events, at their current state, are poor at expressing lore. And finally, the lack of teamplay, guild features or other community-driven content means there’s little to no opportunities to meet new people or feel inside a living world.

Not saying that GW2 is terrible, but world immersion is one of the weakest aspects. It’s an issue that Anet should take a deep look at, especially if they want to make GW2 one of the greatest MMOs. The MMORPG genre is driven by world immersion, if you think about it. The idea of stepping up into a massive new world and exploring it, in an online environment where other people play alongside you. MMOs should naturally be kings of world immersion, and GW2 is forgettable in this area.

Fortunately, the bazaar map, even though it was temporary (nooo), was an excellent step in the right direction. With only two WPs, and one having to be unlocked through exploration and interesting, addicting mechanics; with acchievements rewarding exploration without outright telling you where to find the stuff you need, with acchievements rewarding the search for tiny details and npc talk, etc, Bazaar was an excellent map and nothing unlike what was seen in GW2 before. Also, observing the environments to spot stuff is far more interesting that vistas, and both serve the same purpose at making the player take more attention to the world around them. It’s far better, because it’s interactive, because it’s married with gameplay and not disattached to it.

So if Elona is ever to come, I hope they make it as interesting as it was in the original game, and not just a bunch of areas where you must grind through boring hearts and rush through map exploration before going to the next-yet-the-same place. Which is what Tyria currently feels like.

I would love it if they choose to bring either Cantha or Elona back, as there were good things about both of them, however…

In a way, I don’t want to go “back” to places we’ve been before. I want to see the Ilse of Janthir…The part of the"Ancient Dwarfland" between Timberline falls and Field of Ruin… and yes, even the rest of the island of Orr.

But given the choice between Cantha and Elona? I’ll take Elona every time! Cantha was beautiful in it’s own way, but the city was so claustrophobic that I wasn’t sure I could finish that part of the chapter. Elona had beautiful deserts, great beaches, and some pretty impressive jungles. I’ll go there way more often than a Cantha-type city maze.

I would like to point out that’s not what Elona is supposed to be. Given Palawa Joko is evil, but considering he’s had generations of people living in relative peace under him while renovating the land. We could potentially have a beautiful, lush Elona now while having people that see Palawa as a hero, maybe even a demigod.

For once there might be a situation where we actually get conflicted. Would you break the peace and prosperity Palawa has brought for his people while knowing even though you’re “saving” them, you’re also dam-ing(censor) them into what could evolve into civil unrest and war. Though, to be far, that probably won’t happen. Just a potential outcome.

Wait, what ?

Well I did have to think long and hard about the Jungles of Elona…

  • I came up with a clump of foliage outside of Kamadan I think there was 5 trees there. That is nearly a jungle to an Asura.
  • Upon further consideration, there is a fair bit of forest in the Lahtenda Bog. I wouldn’t tend to term it a jungle but it is the best I can come up with.

Actually you are sort of right : " Palawa dammed and diverted the river Elon, causing drought and famine amid the northern provinces of Elona and creating a green and growing area within the Crystal Desert. In this area, Palawa Joko established the seat of his new kingdom. " But that means that the south part of Vabbi and Kourna won’t look too good.
As for peace, I don’t know…The way he took control of Elona, I doubt it’s a happy place, even 190 years after those events. Maybe at first glace they don’t mind, because they have undead and traitors monitoring them, but I’m sure some groups want this situation to end.
